If you've ever started a thread that got little or no response, this thread's for you.

I'm also running this as an experiment to see how long this thread takes to drop down to page 2 and thence............outer space.....in flames

To enable people to have a say WITHOUT stopping this thread from going down in flames I've included a simple poll.

For a $2 fee, I'll keep it going for an extra 24 hours.

LOL, seriously though, I think we've all had that happen. It's usually due to posting about a topic that isn't very universal, rather than boring. If you look around at some of the threads that did well, and those that didn't, you'll see what i mean. After awhile, you develop an intuition, as to whether a topic will be popular or not, then can tweak your own a little, if you want to get more action. :)

Indeed.

This is probably a heads I win tails I win thread.

It will either go down VERY visibly in flames or it will be kept afloat by 'spoilers' who want to stop it 'going down in flames'

This will be fun

Well, I'm an obsessive poster, so the chances are pretty good that I'll hit it a few times, free of charge.LOL

For $3, I keep it in the top half of the page.

gee, i took ya literally- silly me
i thought you meant a thread which made people angry enough to throw flames back at the original poster. i certainly have done that. also have done the opposite thing, total irrelevance and empty page of no responses. story of my life.

The threads I started which got the least responses were on less popular forums like "Health and Fitness." I never had zero responses, though. I ended up having an interesting discussion with one of the 2 or 3 responders. I can't remember the topic now. It was quite a while ago. I did find a topic I started in the "General" forum which only got 6 replies. Here is the link if you are curious;

What was the topic? Post a link if you prefer. Maybe I will revive it. I have been known to bring back dead threads, despite the fact that some people hate that.

I think it is acceptable etiquette for someone other than the thread author to revive a thread.

Bumping one's own thread (to douse the flames)..........after a few weeks or months in outer space is generally frowned upon

Yes I hate it when that happens.

I thought this was going to be about have you ever started a thread and it broke out into flames instead. I have had that happen.

the only thread i ever started on this site was my introduction thread, and it did not have enough fuel to go down in flames.

it floated away with no hands on the ropes.

I've started many threads that have gone down in flames.
