Do you think there might ever be a nuclear exchange between nuclear armed regions or states?

i am not sure about that, but apparently n. korea is selling nuclear weapons to iran, which also has al queda members in it. it had signed a treaty before not to produce nuclear weapons, yet it did not follow it. sometimes i am tempted to just become a quaker and withdraw from the depressing world. war and politics are full of depressing things and they bring out the worst traits in people.

Probably. It is only a matter of time. This year, next year, next century, who knows.

I hope not. I'm an alien of peace.

There's no telling. It all depends on who has them, how stable they are, and how well they control access to them.
Right now I don't worry so much about ICBM's but more about a ship coming into a major port city with a high yield nuke in the cargo hold and it being detonated right there.

I think it will come. Probably I won't see it in this life, but I don't want. Photos are enough for me.

They were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima already. I believe about a quarter of a million people dead.

Tha death of millions is a statistic.

You mean, again? Nah, I'm sure they'll make something far worse before that happens.

"...This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper." whatever it is, there will be climax and anticlimax. there may be too few survivors to form a critical mass for future generations. i believe it has all happened before.
it could be N.B.C. bombs or some unforseen plague that fries our eggs but good. some cosmic event could do us in. but nobody but god knows when the end will come nor what form it will take. this is as it should be- otherwise what is the use of staying 'till the end of the show if some spoiler already told you how it was going to end?

ted turner, whatever else you may think of him, was good for a pithy turn of phrase. he once said "life is like a b-grade movie, in that while you wouldn't walk out before the end of it, neither would you necessarily want to see it again." but if whatever kind of bombs start happenin' and "the balloon goes up," i WILL walk out before this show is over.

Probably, the bombs exist and there will always be those willing to use them. Why? I don't know, but that doesn't mean they wont use them.

I've already done that to an extent, I try not to pay attention to the events of the world. They're too depressing and don't really have anything to do with me. Yet.

One could not say definitely yes and one could not say definitely no. However such a war is possible. I suspect, if it happened, it would be somewhat by accident or by screwup. I also suspect it would be of limited intensity and duration. As soon as enough cities were vaporized, both sides would stuff the djinn back in the lamp pronto.

"Wasteland" quotation for the win. You're scoring lots of points with me lately. :)

On the nuclear war question, think of it this way. If there is never a large-scale exchange of nuclear weapons, it will be because Humans developed something even worse than nuclear weapons and used those instead. Some monkeys throw poo, other monkeys retaliate with a hailstorm of coconuts. But the monkeys will always fight.

Iran is a Shi'a country, Wahhabist (Sunni (/Salafist) fundy) nutters like AQ are generally speaking their enemies, not their friends. Iran and al Qaeda are unlikely to combine forces, even against the Great Satan.
