McD's is adding a cafe, wifi internet, changing up the atmosphere completely - any luck they'll work on the food while their at it?

Some of the stuff is kind of ugly, but I do think it's an improvement. I don't like the yellowness however.

can they also clean the sweat and sour sauce and god knows what else off the balls in the ball pit? GROSS!

seriously though, it's about time they did something. i dont know if wifi is the greatest idea, since i would think the majority of their clients are there with small children, and they'd be watching their children, not working on their laptops...

they made their coffee "better" but my brother says it tasted better before.

It almost seems like they're taking a bit of that steel & maple thing they did in their Chipotle restaurants (lol, completely night and day food quality difference between the two) and kinda put it back into the McDonald's layout. As for all the yellow though I wouldn't doubt it's one of those things where they did case studies and found out it's color that does something for people's appetites or whatever.

I eat there very rarely...usually only if I'm out late and I want to eat. Wendy's is okay the odd time but it's more expensive and not always as good tasting.

I prefer Burger King, A&W, and Harvey's (the latter is a Canadian chain that is slightly more upscale than the other places). If you happen to be in Ontario, I've heard that Weber's, an independent located 90 or so minutes north of Toronto, is very good.

I'll never eat at Wendy's in my life, everytime I see a commercial, a store of theirs or someone mentions it I think;

Hands, toilet, hands in toilet and the same hands making the food.

wtf. How old are you? Probably old enough to not be in the ball pit.

McDonalds is not a Chinese restaurant . . . why would they have sweet and sour sauce?

Yeah it looks nice how ever the food isn't. Last time I ate there was yesterday and when I completed the cheese burger it only took me 3 seconds and it didn't full me up at all. The chips were horrible and could tell the fat wasn't nearly as good as it should be and probably hasn't been cleaned in a month (my father works in the fast food business only he cooks his food with REAL proper ingredients so I am a half expert).

My father told me Mc Donald’s is one of the dirtiest businesses in the world apart from tobacco but at least with tobacco you have more satisfaction.

I think they should keep some of the exterior elements the same, after all, the architure is sort of an icon really. The interior, although it looks nice ( I like the sort of modern look) is probably going to be sort of faddish, and is going to go out of style quickly. It is nice howeve that they are getting rid of the typical fast-food molded plastic booths. One of the things I noticed about the pictures is the cloth seats, and other soft appointments. Usually McDonalds restaruants can't keep the current dining areas clean with their "no frills" seats and tables. Keeping that furniture in good shape is going to be a real challenge! I also forsee a big money pit in the WiFi thing, as getting into computers can really be opening a can of worms that will require a large investment of equipment and staff that will become outdated quickly, and will need to be replaced often....computer equipment is not simply something that you can buy and be done with~

I agree, it'll probably be dated pretty quick. But then again what the heck, they definitely have the money to do whatever they want, especially when the average McDonald's franchise store nets the owner a cool million per year.

I prefer the drive through - I'd rather take food back home or eat in the car than hang out in MickeyDs. And couches in a restaurant are just plain weird. I can see people spilling coffee and ketchup all over them. Fries stuck in the cushions. Carpeting with pop stains - not really very sanitary. Tile is a GOOD thing in a cheap eating establishment where kids are running around. They would be better off trying an offshoot kind of restaurant for the adult cafe crowd than trying to do all things in one place. Computer cafe and slides and ball pits don't seem to mesh very well.

they were promoting "healthier" food about 18 months ago in England, promoting salads but that seems to have stopped no, well in Canterbury.

Come on, the food isn't that bad. It's better than Burger King. Have you eaten fries at Burger King? At every Canadian McDonald's your buying Alberta beef. As well, McDonald's employees people that no one else will, fourteen year olds and elderly people. They have good french fries that cannot be replicated at home. They create all kinds of kick back jobs, they purchase more condiments than all the other companies combined and so all the kick back jobs throughout the world are a result of that. Hienz ketchup grows all the tomatos for McD's ketchup in the US. McDonald's also carries only Coca Cola beverages and is their biggest purchaser, employing thousands of people throughout the world. I have worked there, once, long ago, and it is as clean as most other restaurants and probably most people's kitchens.

And most everyone I personally know except me and my family are too embarrassed to eat there mostly because they think its evil and tacky to go to McDonald's. Why?
