I'm excited for my Birthday in March and if things go according to plan I'm going to buy the new Zelda and a 3DS at that time. My little sister said I couldn't buy a gift for myself and mom said that is what happens when you get older and don't have friends. LOL! So I was curious do YOU buy yourself Birthday gifts?

I guess I'm older and don't have any friends because I do buy myself a birthday gift, it's always my favorite present too. ;) But this is something I have been doing since I was a very young woman. My grandparents started doing that with all of us when we were young children. So now my family sends me cards with money, it just works out best for everyone.

I don't think there is anything wrong with you buying what you really want instead of getting something you really don't want.

I don't think that it's all that unusual for people to do that. I've been buying myself Birthday presents, for years.

Many people buy themselves birthday gifts. People like to buy things and birthday is very good reason to buy next.
I buy myself a gift too, usually book or album.

I'm surprised that more people don't do that for themselves.

I like buying myself Christmas gifts. I have no idea what to get my husband. That's why I hate Christmas shopping but when I have my child, it will be fun but then he will get hard when he reaches his teens.

Sure. I also like to take myself out to dinner and invite myself up to my place for coffee afterward.

Not birthday presents, but christmas ones! I just bought for everyone else and have, in the process, ordered 2 books and 4 seasons of Shameless for myself

It doesn't help that Amazon is so dangerously cheap

Yes. I am not very rich, so I often take my birthday or christmas as an excuse to buy myself something non essential but cool for me.

My parents often give me money for my birthday so that I can go out and buy myself whatever I want.

I turned 28 two days ago & I didn't get anything or buy myself anything but as CockneyRebel said "I don't think that it's all that unusual for people to do that". Sometimes when I was a kid; I would buy myself something with the money I got for my B*Day or X`mas or sometimes my parents or my aunt would take me shopping & let me pick out something. Most of my choices were things I would of probably bought anyways if they wouldn't of & I had the money. I tend to buy things when I really want/need em or can afford em.
I just remembered that I pre-ordered a CD a month ago that comes out this week. I pre-ordered it because I was able to save 5bux but I guess I could call it a birthday present for myself so I won't feel guilty about buying it instead of using the money to pay off some debt i have(interest is only 3.99% thou so it's manageable but I don't like owing money). i'm going to call the phone upgrade I got a week or so ago & the extended battery that i ordered for it & came in beginning of the week b-day gifts as well

The idea has never really occurred to me, in all truth.
Might as well, though, seeing as I take day trips alone, go to the pictures alone, usually eat out in restaurants alone...

Not really, pretty much because the things I really want I can't afford myself. Which is probably why I never ask for anything sometimes.
