I don't love everything Japanese...I just like a lot of their videogames.

It's hard to say where we'd be right now if Nintendo hadn't stepped in after the videogame crash of '84.

Some pretty good cartoons come out of Japan. I like the kimonos that both genders wear and the Japanese flag is pretty cool. Don't forget the plot of the original Karate Kid movies. The winter Olympics took place in Nagano, Japan in 1998.

I am the opposite of most: I like many aspects of traditional Japanese culture (appreciation for subtlety and the beauty of impermanence, for example), but do not much care for the majority of modern Japanese culture, which I find to be very "in-your-face."

I am not sure. I like their ideas on landscaping.

I agree with this.

They have:

Nintendo!! !
Robots (Waiters, Babysitters, ones that help disabled people walk, probably loads more that I am unaware of)
100 inch+ TVs
Toilets that make a jingle and welcome you to sit on them
Satoshi Tajiri (creator of the godly Pokemon), also an Aspie if I am correct
Hayao Miyazaki (director of the many amazing and magical Studio Ghibli movies)

However I'm not too keen on all the millions of Anime cartoons that are spawned out. They can just give me Pokemon + Studio Ghibli and I'm all set. :D

Hayao Miyazaki, as mentioned before.
Also... Doraemon, the Japanese language, video games, technology, the people... etc.

I love Japan for both its traditional and modern culture. I find its traditional culture to be beautiful and fascinating, and its modern culture to be very fun and truly ahead of its time. Japan is always coming up with neat innovations that no other country has thought of.

One of my goals in life is to visit Japan.

Anime was my special interest for about 10 years, age 8 to 18. I also loved the Japanese language.

What were your favorites?

(By the way, for those who say it's solely because of the anime/manga, or mostly because of the anime/manga... you don't love Japan. You love anime/manga.)

When I was a young child I liked Pokemon, Digimon, Cardcaptor Sakura, the Tenchi Muyo series, and Hamtaro. In my early teens, I liked Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Naruto and One Piece. Finally, in my mid to late teens, I liked Hellsing and Trinity Blood.
