I don't understand gambling in Las Vegas

To me any fun in gambling is from WINNING MONEY.

All of the games in Las Vegas have the deck stacked against you (no pun intended).

Basically, gambling in Las Vegas is:

Win money
Lose money
Win money
Win money
Lose money
Lose money

Back to 0 or most likely losses.

People seem to enjoy passing time playing what would be children games if money wasn't involved.

Am I crazy?

Listen. i only go there for the cusine, buffets really are my thing!

And I only want to go there for the sites. The lights look fascinating

But yeah, I'm not fussed about the gambling. Red Dead Redemption didn't even do it for me

Thats why I only like to play blackjack. Been to Vegas only once on a bussiness trip..on my time off I would drive the poor girl at the blackjack table crazy with my weenie $5 bets. I was just playing for the heck of it.

The bfast buffet at the Paris Las Vegas is the absolute best there is. I don't understand how they can make scrambled eggs so delicious... I cant eat scrambled eggs without thinking of them

Never cared much for gambling or cards. Around here that's the domain of chain smoking french rednecks so that is perhaps why

It always geared in the house's favor. Gambling is a useless pursuit, at least at casinos.

I find it silly they ban card-counting. It's a learned talent like any other. Oh, wait, we wouldn't want to dare hurt the profits of a casino...

Isn't that kinda ...the whole point in gambling. Your betting against unfair odds in the hopes of winning more than what you came in with, it's the whole risk vs. reward thing.

Gambling isn't exactly a guarantee win either way, but in Vegas the fun is from being in the gambling capital of the world, to say you've done it, to get swept-up in the excitement in it, plus all the food, kitsch souvenirs, lights and show girls

I'm not a gambler, at all, my boyfriend is and would agree with you KevinLA, too much stacked in favour of the house...but if we ever have the cash we're going there...I'll just have to be extra tight with the purse strings.

I would rather keep my money I have than gamble it away. Usually if a
gambler is successful the casino would try to keep them inside the casino
with comps such as dinner. The longer they stay the better chance for the house to
win their money back. So quit while you ahead.

Gambling is a tax for the math challenged.

I have never been to Los Vegas but I only buy Playboy for the articles.

People sit for hours stuffing money down poker machines. Don't they know they CAN'T win?

Australian casinos try to attract the "high rollers" from Asia by offering them luxury rooms and everything free.

They come over and drop a couple of million dollars in two weeks and then say "Well, that was fun. See you again next year"

Man! If I had a couple of million dollars to blow on a fling then I would hire a cruise ship and pack it full of bimbos, Playboy Bunnies, booze, dope and rock stars, then invite everyone I knew to "party on".

Buffets (and In 'n' Out!). Art galleries (the Vladimir Kush gallery in Caesar's Palace(?)! !!). The light show at Samstown Casino. Hiking in Red Rock and Valley of Fire. Good year, living there; but somehow the gambling was never in the picture.

Why gamble in Las Vegas, when I can play free slots at home on my netbook with a 1 in 10 chance of winning a $250 or $500 prize a month? I haven't won a prize yet, but I know my time is comming.

Maybe that's why the casinos are doing poorly recently - well enough in themselves, but not really enough to prop up Nevada in the absence of a state tax. Vegas is past its gambling heyday and knows it.

I never understood it, either. If one could be certain that one would win, then yes.
