You know I always get people staring at me like I have two heads and I get upset about it? Well, yesterday something funny happened in this situation, and I thought I'd share it with you on here.
I was waiting at the bus stop and so was another woman. She had her back to the road where the bus was going to be coming from, and she stood staring at me because I was a newcomer and so I suppose she had to examine me to see if I was acceptable to the feminine social standards because she can't have anything else better to worry about than what a stupid girl half her age is doing. Then a bus came along, what wasn't my bus, and I looked up and saw it coming, but this t**t was so busy staring at me that she wasn't taking heed in what else is going on, and the bus sailed by, so she had to run after it, knocking on the windows in a panic to get someone's attention to get the driver to stop the bus.

I couldn't help laughing to myself. Serves her right for staring at me! And why should I of told her that a bus was coming? The stupid twat should of been concentrating.

how do you know she was staring at you for those reasons?
maybe she thought 'her hair looks nice' or 'i like her shoes' and was looking at you for a positive reason?

I don't see anything wrong with staring at people, I do it all the time. Especially at the bus stops, because I like to get an idea of who I'm going to be standing next to awkwardly for the next ten or so minutes.
That is funny she missed her bus for it, though.

Well my hair isn't really in a style, and she was staring at my eyes. I wasn't looking at her at first, I just felt her staring in my periphery so I happened to glance at her and see she was staring. But if you got a bus to catch, you shouldn't really draw your attention to something else. Bus-drivers don't always stop for you unless you put your hand out. Some do, but most don't.

I thought it was only Aspies who stare?

I, personally, don't stare at people directly unless I like something about them. Because I sort of forget i'm looking.
But, I avoid looking at people who I think look unpleasant at all. I find it intimidating.

That's hilarious Joe90, I agree it serves her right.

I swear like you do and am a particular fan of the t-word! Though I'm not sure why you would use it about yourself...(in your signature). You sound like a smart person which is kind of the opposite of a tw*t.

If she was an aspie and was staring at you would she still be a twat and deserve to miss her bus?

I don't know - just the fact that a female human is staring at me for no reason then wonders why she misses her bus makes me feel irritated but made the situation funny at the same time.

She may not have been actually staring at you. Sometimes when I'm thinking about something else I might be looking right at someone or something, like I'm intently staring at it, but I don't even really see it. I'm caught up in what I'm thinking. I've "stared at" people like that many times and caught myself at it. She may not have meant to be actually staring at you, or actually been paying any attention to you. Kind of like a focal point, but not noticing it.

Lol if you miss the bus, which is hard to miss, then your concentration had to be focused on something long enough to not take heed of an approaching bus. She was probably staring but who am I to judge> :)

Also to respond to another comment, yes Aspies stare too. but the intentions that NT's and Aspies have when they do certain things are different.

Aspies are brutally honest - because they are just honest by nature and stating facts
NT's are brutally honest- becuase they know it will hurt you

Aspies stare- out of blindness to social norms, fascination, or do it without realizing
NT's stare- to intimidate

Aspies are not all brutally honest. Many, many of us know how to, and do lie, hide the truth, tell partial truths, etc. NT's, just as aspies, may be brutally honest at times because it's needed or they were asked to be. Aspies at times are brutally honest at times because it's needed or they were asked to be. Some aspies have an issue about being honest at all times, just as some NT's have one, although it's more common in aspies probably.

Aspies may sometimes stare out of blindness to social norms, fascination or do so without realizing. Sometimes they do so to intimidate.

NT's may sometimes stare out of blindness to social norms, fascination or do so without realizing. Sometimes they do so to intimidate.

I think the problem is that you are painting all aspies with one brush and all NT's with one brush. Not every aspie is nice, harmless, socially inept, and honest. Not every NT is rude, hurtful, bullying, condescending and intimidating. To assume so puts you at a great disadvantage and can cause assumptions that only hurt and cause anxiety for you. Try judging each person on their own character, merits and flaws, instead of just assuming something based on a neurological status.

What kind of bus driver doesn't stop at a bus stop where there are people?

In Blighty, we have to flag down the bus we want to take, otherwise it won't stop (unless someone inside has pressed the stop button).
