I had this conversation with my mum the other day about feeling embarrassed when I get too hungry and my stomach starts making noises and I'm in a quiet room with other people. My mum says that it's not something to get embarrassed about, and that everyone's stomach rumbles when they're hungry, and that she only got embarrassed about her stomach rumbling when she was a kid.

But I do find it embarrassing, because sometimes my stomach has made the most loudest and unusual noises ever when hungry, and it sometimes draws attention. I don't usually eat a lot in the morning because I always feel sick when I get up, so I either just have something small like a couple of biscuits, or just a drink. But if an hour or so goes by without eating since I got up (or if I have been walking, which works up an appetite), I suddenly find my stomach rumbling again. But anyway I'm not looking for a solution. I'm just wondering if anybody else gets embarrassed when hearing your stomach keep rumbling in a quiet meeting or something, or is it just me?

I am always embarassed. I think it's because my stomach knows i will get embarassed and these sounds are revenge for not eating on time.

I don't care. Doesn't bother me

If it's really loud, I look down at my stomach, and say a variation of -- Yes Satan... you want me to do what... Okay, I'll do it.

Nope, my stomach embarrasses me too. It must know that I hate its noises since there's always more of them during an exam.

Paradoxically, you show self-awareness when you say you lack self-awareness.

Yes. It most definitely embarrasses me when my stomach makes noise, but not when I'm hungry. It's very annoying and I don't need anyone hearing my stomach.

I don't usually eat in the mornings either, although I did this morning.

^this.

i can get caught up in an activity (reading or drawing, most commonly) and lose track of time until my stomach reminds me to eat in this manner.

Nope, that's just nature's way of telling you to head for the bakery.

I don't recall ever being embarrassed by that but my stomach is fairly quiet & I'm seldom around others in quiet environments except home with my girlfriend.

Nope, because only I tend to hear it for some reason and I care more about eating that anything else at this point.

I do slightly when i'm in a group of people, mostly because it draws attention to me and may bring on a comment from someone.

I feel somewhat embarrassed, if it's in a room full of people and a hush has fallen over the room, so my stomach rumbling is the only thing people can hear. But the feeling of embarrassment usually passes because after a brief pause, everyone seems to go about their business again, as if nothing happened.

not uusually but once I was at a play and my stomach was rumbly and the actor Richard Thomas was sitting in front of me and turned around and gave me a dirty look. I immediately turned and glared at the guy sitting next to me. I
