What would help, RedMage, is that you give a reason for hating tatoos. That way, you can actually defend your opinion more readily against those detractors. Savvy?

I hate tatoos, because I think they disfigure the body with works of art that are often dubious. The best tatoos, if I can say so, are small and understated.

the title of that thread is "who here has tattoos?" not "what is your opinion of tattoos?"

there is a difference between the two titles. the former simply wants input from the tattooed. the latter is an invitation to all opinions, positive as well as negative.

but stating your negative opinion in the thread which bears the first title, you are subtly insulting those with tattoos.

so, unfortunately, you brought the subsequent comments from those offended by your opnion and your non tattooed intrusion upon yourself.

I don't like tattoos either, but I don't care if people have them. Maybe the problem here is not including JMO or IMHO in posts so that people don't get riled up.

Yes. I don't like most earrings. The only ones that I'm neutral, and un put off by are braided earrings which don't appear to be metallic.
