I saw a car in a parking lot with a bumper stick that said "abortion stops a heartbeat". Anyone here who thought that wasn't the case?

If it is done early enough there probably wouldn't be a heart beat yet, but yes as it becomes a fetus that will occur...still not sure a heartbeat implies conscious brain activity. You can be braindead and still have a heartbeat...

The heart starts beating at 5 weeks into the pregnancy.

> Human fetuses are made of human DNA, so they are people.

> From the moment of conception, they take in nutrients, give off waste, grow, and engage in life based biochemical activities. These are all part of being alive, so from the moment of conception, they are alive.

> The viability argument doesn't hold water, as there are plenty of already born people, both young and old who are not viable, that is, they can't live without help, so using viability as a measure for when to allow or disallow abortions isn't valid. If you think other wise, then perhaps you also believe it's okay to kill already born people who are disabled, including myself. Well, I will use my 2 steel canes on anyone who tries to do a "late", after birth abortion on me. HI YAH!

> No sane person is against legitimate, medically necessary abortions. Several female relatives had tubal pregnancies that had to be aborted, to save their lives. There was no way to save the unborn children, but the abortions did save my relatives.

> Aborting a child because you don't want it is not a medically necessary abortion. It is a convenience abortion, which is simply murder. There are better alternatives.

+ Don't get pregnant in the first place.
+ If you do get pregnant, have a willing relative raise the child.
+ Alternatively, put the child up for adoption.

There is absolutely no excuse for murdering a child by means of a convenience abortion. Also, the process of abortion can damage a woman's privates, and the experience of having murdered your own child causes mental health issues. Women who have gone through convenience abortions sometimes become rabid pro abortionists, to try to drown out their guilt feelings over what they did to their own kid, by trying to make it seem that abortion is an okay thing to do, but it never solves the problem, because the kid is still dead. and worse, it gets joined in death by all the other kids the mother helps to get aborted.

The only real solution for those not wanting a child is to not get pregnant, or, failing that, to give the child away.

> The Constitution guarantees life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all American citizens. Abortion debrives children of their lives, and without due process of law. It also deprives them of the chance to pursue happiness.

> Pro abortionists claim that carrying an unwanted child interferes with a woman's right to pursue happiness, but the right to life comes before the right to pursue happiness. Also, carrying the child to term is only a matter of 9 months, after which the child can be given to someone who want's it, and the mother will then be free to pursue happiness again.

> One more thing, although we are guaranteed the right to pursue happiness, The Constitution does not guarantee that anyone will catch happiness.

I heard that abortion clinics are one of several places targeted by bomb threats, and once on TV I heard about a serial killer who targeted doctors who performed abortions.

So what they're saying basically is abortion is murder, so we have to kill people who run planned pregnancy/abortion clinics. Who often have children of their own.

Yeah that makes totally perfect sense.
And that's all I have to say about that.

It's a bunch of nonsense imo, no disrespect to anyone who holds different views. If you want an abortion then do it and sod what everyone else thinks, it's up to the individual if they want to put up with a crotch goblin for the rest of their life sucking away their vitality/money/resources. Having a child is quite a selfless act. If you don't want to then that's perfectly fine, join the pro-child free crowd.

It's interesting to me that many people with the strongest opinions on abortion are men. It's really none of their business. These same men also tend to be type who think the poor are too lazy to work so why should their tax dollars pay for them. Yet they allow kids to be born which in the end cost these tax dollars. What is more ethical for a child to never be born or for a child to live a life of pain?

If you don't want an abortion no one will make you get one. But there are many personal and financial reasons why you might want one. Your religious opinion has no place in that person's decision. They don't like the idea that a women may be able to have sex without "consequence".

I don't know if these people really don't understand biological development or if they are purposefully ignorant for the sake of their argument but it takes a while for things "human" to develop. And by that point an abortion is no longer legal. It's also not the casual thing they think it is. As if the average women has one several times a year without any regret or thought. Yes I have heard that said.

I feel that that is the case. Life begins at conception. I also feel that if people don't like children or special needs people than they shouldn't have sex, because they'd just end up aborting the baby if they hate kids or their unborn child had any disability. I feel that there's something wrong with abortion in every circumstance.

Just putting it out there.

Human cells are made of human DNA, are they people?

I think it is important to get it as early as possible, like if I had reason to believe a condom fails I'd get a morning after pill...and yeah if that didn't work I'd have to get an abortion. Pregnancy lasts 9 months, I don't have 9 months to be incapacitated in my current situation. I don't think it is murder to try and get an abortion asap if you get an unwanted pregnancy...not till the later stages of fetal development the thing growing inside you becomes a baby. Murder is taking the baby into the wilderness and leaving it to die because it has a defect like they did in older times, or worse throwing the baby away like in the garbage once it's born.

Yes it does because heart beat starts at 5 weeks so when you abort, of course it will stop it.

So people who don't want kids should just never experience the pleasure of sex? even with birth control, morning after pill and abortion as a last resort...people should resort to just not having sex? Sorry but no, I don't want kids and will continue to have sex with my boyfriend. A living concious human being does not appear the instant you have sex, the clump of cells that first develops is not a conscious human being.

If one feels abortion is wrong, don't have one...but don't impose it on me because I do not share you religious veiws on conception.

I'm a guy who's strongly pro birthcontol but is also strongly prochoice partly because I think the planet is overly populated & humans are destroying the planet. I'm a supporter of VHEMT, The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. There's women who never plan on having unprotected sex but get raped & it's WRONG that they should have to carry the fetus/kid(which ever term you want to use) in their womb for 9 months that they resent the whole time because of the circumstances of it's conception & who the dad is.

I am in support of abortion, but I can see what people who are against abortion think. They think of the fetus of a person who is being denied their fight to live. Having an issue where only one sex can comment on is not productive. As a society we all need to debate each other. I personally don't care if a woman gets an abortion.

Abortion is murder, more times than not. That is something that will stay with you until the day you die. If you are diligent then you probably won't get pregnant, if you do after all that and your life isn't in danger then you should do the right thing and carry the baby to term.

Well yeah, it's the act of killing a fetus. Here's the thing though; if you make abortions illegal that's not going to stop them from happening. In fact, it makes things worse because a back alley abortion done with a coathanger can stop two heartbeats and not just one. IMO, this is a situation where you have to choose the lesser of two evils. In an ideal world, no one would choose to terminate a pregnancy, but we don't live in an ideal world.

I'm hesitantly pro-choice. I don't like abortions, but they happen.
