I've found it's not just this forum that people correlate everything with autism on and it's not just autism that gets correlated with everything. It's just a human thing, something humans of any group typically do on any discussions.

I just visited a Facebook group for ADHD people, and one member wrote that she had been suffering with covid for a few weeks, and someone else put "I wonder if it's because you have ADHD?" While I don't think ADHD (a neurological brain disorder) would affect how one gets covid, I realised that it seems to just be the nature of any internet forums to correlate everything with everything depending on the topic of the forum.
Maybe people just say it for something to say? I try to avoid correlating everything I do with having Asperger's or ADHD but I must try not to jump down people's throats when they correlate something unrelated with autism here and I must just remember that it's what happens on internet discussion sites.

Just thought I'd mention it, fellow humans!
So next time a thread comes up like "is it an autism thing to breathe?" I'll just reply, "yep, it sure is".

Yes.

When you have a hammer in your hand everything looks like a protruding nail.

And when you get a diagnosis- some folks get fanatical that that diagnosis is the key to EVERY thing.

ADHD having something to do with making you suseptible to Covid.

"I like chicken McNuggets. Is that an aspie thing?" That was an actual thread title here awhile ago.

Folks on this site have suggested that aspergers/autism correlates with ...having a sweet tooth, with having less than the normal sweet tooth (especially in childhood), with having a bigger than normal head, with having a smaller than normal head, with being a "big person", with being a small person, ....

Awhile ago I heard Dale Jr. talking about this same phenomenon among people who've had brain injuries. Suddenly everything different in your life starts being placed in the concussion bucket which is to say, everything starts being viewed as another possible symptom of the brain injury.

Part of what his therapist helped with was to stop focusing so much on what may or may not have to do with the concussions because it'll never be possible to be entirely certain and it ends up wasting energy and time to fixate on it all the time.

It's good that you're able to not worry as much about it as some folks, especially for your own mental health. That said, I get why recently diagnosed adults and teens will be prone to view everything through that lens - they know whatever it is can profoundly impact their lives and they're trying to reevaluate things in light of the new information.

Limited diets are definitely an ASD thing. Chicken tenders seem to be a common safe food for folks with ASD, so... it kinda is.

I ate half chickens at my old workplace every day almost for 4 years.

At one point I got asked if I had stolen the chicken?!

This world is not for me, clearly.

I can't put together the rational that would lead someone to conclude eating the same food everyday meant you had stolen it. I'm not sure if that makes me dumber than him. 8)

I'm quite certain this world isn't for me either, but this world is stuck with me regardless.

Isn't there a thread on here somewhere about things which would make good band names?

This human cognitive bias has many names. Golden hammer, Maslow's hammer, law of instrument, yadda yadda yadda...

Of course it's not just this forum.

Of course it's always about "Does (insert activity/status/etc. of specific populations of a specific community/space/commonality) a (insert anything) thing?"

This also means the reverse.
Whereas NT is equals to exclusion of specific populations of a specific neurodiverse community/space/commonality.

Oh, and I like them both chicken nuggets, chicken wings, roasted or fried chicken in general.

I think he was dissing me, by basically saying I was a black person, and as a black person, I could not afford to each chicken every day on a not-very-impressive wage.

That's how I was reading it, that it must be a racist barb and not actually about the food.
Unless of course, I'm not sure if the fried chicken trope exists there but if it does that would be strike 2 in that direction while also being way more about the specific food even if there's no logic behind it.
