I literally don't know who you are.

And I'm one of those types who doesn't track whose username is who.

I wish this thread would have been a serious one.

I am waiting for Lost_dragon to change her mind regarding whether she thinks she is on the autistic spectrum, or not.

*One of us, one of us!* - a chant arises from the chamber of this WP thread.

I'd vote for "brains don't exist!, but I can't see it in the poll. So, it leaves me with a combination of "I don't know who you are", because I know you basically from one post (ok, now there are two, so we're almost friends) and "Depends how you define", because it always depends how you define. What do you think on the matter? You don't have to be autistic to be neuroweird :)

Alright, to be serious for a moment, I don't think of myself as neurotypical. However, I don't think I'm autistic.

In some ways, I am socially adept. In others, I am woefully awkward. I have friends. I can make small talk just fine. I understand social boundaries. One time I successfully pretended to befriend someone in order to help a friend out of a dangerous situation. However, I am quite literal and do tend to miss sarcasm. Enthusiasm is either none at all or all of it at once, there is no in-between.

I tend to keep myself in check, otherwise I'd be bouncing all over the place. Unless you're a friend and we're somewhere we can unwind, then in which case you'll get that version of me.

I can be a hot mess. I get my left and right mixed up. I'm really bad with directions. Numbers get all switched around. I can't do mental maths. I struggle to tell the time. Speaking of time, I'm bad at time management and tend to show up ridiculously early because I know if I aimed to be on time then I'd end up ridiculously late. Unfortunately, I know from experience.

People tend to think I'm organised which is funny to me because I absolutely am not. I live in a state of organised chaos that somehow works when it really shouldn't. People also tend to assume I used to be a good student... the stories I could tell. :P

Do you know of Broad Autistic Phenotype? I myself have only just heard of it. It's where you're close to the spectrum but not on it. You have traits but not enough to be diagnosed.

My housemate has trouble with left and right and can't read analogue clocks. She has to have a digital or smart watch and needs a calculator to do mental maths. I have to keep her on track if we're going somewhere together or she'll be very late.

Feels like home wasn't until my late twenties , early thirties, till right left became more clear....Fricken door knobs made lttle sense to me . But in my defence had a bit of ambidexterity going on.....Really made my time in the military,
all kinds of weird. And figuring patients left and right was a thing you do not mess up on . It was easier for me,to figure somebody else , rightside/leftside ..but on my own still have days where I think twice. . Port and Starboard was easier for some reason. But did get easier somewhat, after getting dominant side disabled in a major accident,Years later. . :ninja:

I wonder if other people see me as NT as well. After all, I wasn't even diagnosed until I was an adult.

And everyone seems to know an autistic 10 year old boy who is nothing like me, so I can't be autistic.

Maybe the fact that I'm not a 10 year old boy has something to do with the lack of similarity?
