I want to get a tattoo

I have never been one to rush into things and don't have a tattoo but on Newyears they was spraying on pretend tattos. I seen one of a fairy women in a red bikinis or bathers sitting down. She was just perfect and I said to my daughter I want one and I want get that one for real. I was going to get it sprayed on my upper thigh, however, there was teenager girls in front of me in line and there was this older guy a bit drunk standing there. The teenage girls was innocently being cute teasing him and he said to them, 'I hope your twats get infested by maggots and can't remember what else" but it was really gross so I walked away. I don't know if I'll ever see that tattoo again.

I love my tattoos! I would recommend finding a tattoo artist who you trust and whose work and style you adore, (it's worth taking a lot of time over this stage!) and then ask them to draw someting up for you. If you are as specific as you can be about the picture you saw, a great artist will be able to draw something up for you that you love.

Just do not rush into it, once it is on you it is there for ever.

I can't stop you, but remember, that the day will come when tattoos are considered old-fashioned and uncool. And the day will come when you're an old, wrinkly lady..with a tattoo. Tattoos are forever, unless you want them removed, which hurts even more that having them put on...

Remember, tattoos last forever (unless you have them removed.) You may want to think hard if you really want one, as you may change you mind once it's on.

People don't just get tattoos to look cool, there are often personal and emotional reasons behind the decision to mark your body. And tattoos on old, wrinkly people aren't automatically bad! - you may not think that looks good, but some people do!

At the risk of sounding snobbish or elitist, I've always associated people with tattoos as the dregs of society, uneducated people, too idle to work, sponging on welfare who go around swearing and cussing, chain smoking and beer swilling who spend their time watching "reality" tv shows.

Maybe that is just a stereotype - a stereotype people of my generation and country typically have.

I guess it also depends on where tattoos are and how obvious they are to anyone else. The more visible they are the more of a statement they make. A question to ask yourself is do you want to continue making this same statement for the rest of your life?

I grew up in the punk rock era where lots of my peers had pink and green Mohecan haircuts, wore pins in their face with chains hanging from them and heavy black mascara on their face etc. Twenty years later those same people are just ordinary middle aged people living their lives dropping their kids off at the school and they now have "normal" hair, normal clothes etc.

You can't easily discard a tattoo at a later stage in life like you can a fashion statement or outrageous hair do.

I've seen people trying to get decent jobs that have got facial tattoos - they usually don't get the job.

Similarly tattoos on arms, if they are visible it automatically makes it more difficult for the person to get various jobs and generally portrays a negative image.

I was burned with boiling water as a baby and as a result, my left arm was badly disfigured. I hated it, and it wasn't until my 30s that I had the idea to have a tattoo sleeve. Now I love my arm. Now nobody ever notices the scaring, and I haven't had a single negative comment about my tattoos. I have no doubt that there are plenty of people who don't see beauty in my tattoos, but they have had a huge and positive influence on the direction of my life and I would not be the person I am today without them. x

I may be offering bad advice here, but I have 8 tattoos and love them all. I am now 44 years old, and started getting them when I was young---I do not regret them. There were some times in the past that I wished I had gotten a different design. but now I am cool with them all. I just got my last work done this past September (tribal piece expanded and reworked on my stomach and chest), October (tribal tattoo on my leg), and December (finished the tribal piece on my chest and stomach).

Here is what I told myself about them early in life. Will I regret them some day? Probably. But, if I don't get tattooed, will I someday regret not having gotten them? Probably---because I would have been curious about having real tattoos. So I did it.

I did the fake tattoo thing for awhile---and I liked the way they looked on me---so I went for it.

Now, about your design you like. There are a lot of sites on the internet offering samples of flash (you know, the tattoo designs), and you can also look on the temporary tattoo sites too, they have some nice designs occasionally.

But as you have heard, and as you probably know, be sure you can live with something on you forever.
