Since you didn't list Linux (Puppy, UBUNTU, whatever) I had to pick the other OS I actually Use..

Ooo. I think I would have to choose ...OTHER. Ubuntu or Xubuntu for my older, yet well built system. But, at the moment, Windows XP PRO SP3. But I believe I would consider a dual boot of Linux and Windows any day. The last time I used a Mac was in middle school, and that was System 5,6,7, or possibly 8. If anything, I would pick something that has command line access, in case the GUI goes flaming to heck in pieces in a hand woven hand basket.

Vista, with a lot of the crap turned off(user account control,aero themes) but the DX10 is nice, as well as the search local folders and on 4gb RAM and a 3.0ghz dual core processor it runs Nicely, even while running crysis dedicated server and crysis normal mode at the same time. If it weren't for all the issues with steam and wine on linux I'd say fedora, but steam games dont work with it well.

I use XP, and it's the first computer I ever owned. So, I don't have anything to compare it too. But for what it's worth, I hear alot of people complain about Vista.

XP. I'm not very good with computers any more so I don't really undersatnd things like Linux or Ubuntu. I don't see what Vista has that's actually an improvement on XP. It just looks prettier and takes up loads more memory.
Never had a Mac but they seem okay.
I think it's easiest to have Windows because most people do so most stuff is made for Windows and might not work on other things.

XP... i have known several organizations which sent back systems because they were vista.

Gentoo Linux - or Xubuntu. From those you mentioned probably Mac OS though due to their accessibility settings!
