How do you feel about perfume?

What is your favourite smell?

How would you like your (possibly) parner to smell like?

I wear perfume everyday. It makes me feel good. I only wear it lightly though as I don't like overpowering scents. I wear Live by Jlo

I find most perfume overwhelming. I'm quite sensitive to artificial scents, and most perfumes affect me negatively.

Male - use it rarely. And then... sparingly. (I've only ever owned one bottle (tommy), and i've had it for 12 years and still have two thirds left)

I can't stand it. On myself I gag. On women I find I can't breathe and feel like i'm about to go into a coughing fit.

The one's that put it on with a firehose I just have to walk away from.

Of course, when I am "going out" I put a little bit on. Just enough so that hopefully someone can smell it, but not so much as that I can't breathe.

As for women or potential partner. I don't care. I'd prefer she didn't wear it. That said if it is light enough and if it is far enough away, it does smell very alluring.

EDIT: Obviously I mean I wear cologne not perfume.

Same here. Not a friend of perfumes. I like clean and fresh ... and my girlfriend's natural body odours.

New Guinea was good ... just regular showering or bathing, no perfumes, no makeup, feathers and flowers for ceremonial occasions. Very civilised in my opinion.

I use it everyday. Put a tiny amount of Davidoff's 'Cool Water' on a finger tip and put it in my ear shelves. Same ritual, same scent for over twenty years now.

(Dislike it when people use very much of the stuff, though)

Generally I dislike all but essential oil fragrances, and almost never use essential oils anymore. I absolutely hate the fragrances used for many deodorants, shaving gels, etc.

I generally loathe all perfumes and artificial "fragrances". In particular I hate the perfume counters in large department stores - they stink awful. :eew: Too overpowering, so I always hurry through them.

I do like the natural smell of women though, the pheromone sort of smell that women have. I don't mean stinky body odour from not washing, just the natural female smell.

Can't stand it. Will start sneezing uncontrollably if in an enclosed space with someone wearing perfume or cologne. Too many strong fragrances will also give me an instant headache. Won't go into a candle or potpourri shop. Hate the detergent aisle in the grocery store.

The most heinous scent is the perfume "White Linen".

Interesting that the general aspie male consensus in this thread is the perfumes are horrible and offensive to the senses. I wonder what the NT male perspective is on perfumes? I wonder if our aspie brain wiring makes us dislike such scents? But then perhaps the whole perfume industry is just a con and women generally buy perfumes because of the massive advertising industry around such products?

I despise artificial scent.

I'm another who hates the smell of perfume. It is one of the few things that can pierce my feeble sense of smell.

I also didn't realise there was such a thing as perfume for males.

Is there anyone who craves smells? My son smells everything and most of his memories are tied to scents. He feels comforted when I wear perfume (which is one of the big reasons why I wear it) and if I change scents, I bring him with me because I make sure its something he likes. He will determine if he likes/doesn't like something based on scent alone.

My youngest has only recently gotten past the need to sniff everything.

I had a girlfriend once who wore perfume. I didn't like the smell of it but, also didn't want to offend her. It wasn't an overwhelming scent, it was just unfamiliar to me. She hurt me, I hate her, and now I can't remember exactly what the stench smelled like.

I don't wear perfumes/colognes. I like natural smells and appearances.
