The sound of water drops splashing in my cistern (about 5 feet from my bed) sometimes gets to me. Is this a similar thing to 'Chinese water torture?'.

For me it would depend on the sound the actual splash makes , if it was a boring drip noise it would annoy but it if it had a bit of reverb and echo it would bother me a lot less and may even feed into my possible echolalia.

If the drip was hitting your head then yes Chinese water torture :skull:

But for someone with sensory issues then I think it would be exactly the same process.

I don't usually hear clocks at all, so this was a bit of a novelty for me.

I didn't know that birds chirped constantly until I got my hearing aids.

Only it doesn't tick.
It sounds like a rattley fridge motor.
I thought it was my fridge motor and commented on how it seemed to be running endlessly and how maybe it needed fixing.
Then someone pointed out that it was the clock, non-ticking.

That reminded me of the torture used in the time of Pinochet where they'd play Julio Iglesias' songs over and over again. I think they'd have a better result with some Croatian pop singers though.

I'm still stimming on Disney Beauty and the Beast. One thing just doesn't add up about this though - they claim that the rose will bloom until the Beast's 21st year, so obviously he is 21 during the story. But the prologue-y bit also claims that it has been years. Ten years is mentioned at one later point. So he was cursed for being an a***hole when he was what, eleven??? What eleven-year-old boy isn't occasionally spoiled, selfish or unkind?
And as he turned the beggar woman/enchantress away himself, where were his parents? And why is he depicted as a grown man in the prologue, if the timeline suggests he was a child?
Do not Disney have editors?
It would make much more sense if he was 31 at the time of the story - then he would have been cursed at 21 and I suppose that's feasibly enough time to become an a***hole. At least, become almost an adult enough and more responsible for your own arseholery. It's also not too far-fetched that he may have been in an adult role by that time, master of his castle and so on, which is why he was blamed for turning her out.
It makes no sense that he is 21 in the story. And I'm analyzing a cartoon. 8O
