I went to Pickwick Day Camp when I was 6.

They made us sing “Doe, a deer, a female deer” constantly.

I hated that song.

They were teaching us to tie our shoes to that song.

I helped to paint a garden shed while the kids (parents?) were singing that song. It was the first time I heard it.
I think I was about seven. I felt embarrassed that I didn't understand what on earth do / re / mi (etc)., had to do with music theory. (That's me, always looking at the details). I told the kids I was sick and went home because I felt dumb
for not knowing what do / re / mi was all about musically. (I still don't know) :?

I pick 3. That sounds God awful.

I once got detention for calling a teacher a specific thing after hearing it from another student, thinking it was something harmless only to find out after the fact that it was something terrible.

Throughout elementary school, wetting myself during class happened from time to time, because I was too nervous to go up to the teacher to be excused to go to the bathroom.

I used to have a terrible habit of not writing down my homework assignments, because in my head everyone else just remembered them and I should be able to as well, which would always lead to me ending up at home with no clue on if I needed to do something or not.

Oh, heavens. I've done all three of those for the reasons you cite.

I think, though, perhaps your lie is 2.

Actually, I remember either tying my shoes to the song. Or tying my shoes while the song was sung, though that has nothing to do with the song.

I know I got berated by someone for having trouble tying my shoes.

It seemed like the Army when I went to Pickwick.

1. I went to a camp for kids with special needs for two years (1968-1969).

2. I fell off a horse and broke my elbow in 1969 at one of these camps.

3. I didn't go to a camp for "normal" kids until 1972.

Hi, Kortie!
I recall that you broke your elbow falling from a horse. :(

I vote 3.

Correct. I went to Camp White Oaks (for "normal" kids) during 1970 and 1971. Then I went to Camp McAllister in 1972.

1. In 1973-1974, I went to a camp where we slept in tents, rather than bunks.

2. In 1975-1976, I went to a camp where we had latrines instead of toilets.

3. in 1975-1976, I went to a camp that specialized in the Arts.

3. I don't think you liked, or wanted to go to, Art Camp.

#3 is a lie. The camp I went to during 1975-1976 was pretty much a barebones, low-budget affair. We slept in bunks, but had latrines for bathroom functions. I used to spend hours hitting rocks with a big stick.

1975 was a good year. 1976 was the year I had sexual organs stuck in my face.

1. I had a "teen angel" comb when I was 14, and spent quite a bit looking at myself in all manner of mirrors.

2. I started taking showers more often when I was 14.

3. I actually went out on a date when I was 14.

3 is correct. I'm too transparent LOL.

It was a green comb that had the words "teen angel" etched onto it.

Actually, 2 is true. Last time I recall that happening was in 7th grade during gym class.

I was a little "late" when it came to puberty. For some reason, though, I wasn't self-conscious. I knew that puberty would come eventually.

My voice changed in two months when I was 14.

1. I worked in a bagel shop at age 17, and got fired after one day.

2. I delivered dry cleaned stuff at 15.

3. I was served a Rum and Coke in a bar at 15. The Knicks were on TV.

What is the drinking age there? 15 sounds young. I'll go 3.
