So odd after being here and grown up with non verbal sister and my own diagnosis later in life.

i didn't know u had a sister who was non verbal and asd!! ! ! i truly believe in the genetic component! it's unfortunate that when growing up they weren't as aware of verbal ppl with ASD or females. and diagnosis and help didnt occur.

my verbal ASD kid is soooo asd but in a 'can pass as NT because intelligent and social and not as severely affected' but it totally affects his life.

but since he has Diagnosis and i attended seminars and workshops for him (even though i attended others for the other, those werent helpful since surprisingly there is little help for the most severe ASD kids or their parents!! ! !)
and hi s teachers at daycare know, they are all more accommodating and caring and dont berate him in the same way as they would have done a non-diagnosed kid. since they know it's part of him.

it's good though that people who were diagnoses as adults can speak about all the bad stuff that happened (most of which they probably dont even remember or know) from misunderstandings and stuff. why..because that is adding to the knowledge base for professionals and parents.. that's what a diagnostician lady told me... she wanted me to tell her about the bad stuff so she would know the value of an early diagnosis

edit- i think my non verbal asd kid who has many issues is actually more intelligent than his brother,
more socially intelligent especially..

just delayed and disabled. i mean that he was born more intelligent. but just blocked off by a big brick wall placed all around him that blocks his inner world from most people. unless they actually care to know him.

Thank you veery much for your excellent feedback . Albeit naive . My sister and i were pretty intelligent . Her looks , gave No clue of her non verbal disposition
And it would not take much for me to believe she is /was smarter than me.
I had no idea what mirroring was till later on .she never got that .
It caused me much greif not knowing of it , for so long. The concept had escaped both of us. Defo agreed on genetics , perhaps genetics with a twist.

You got it bett we than me.. 'Mirroring' makes NTs think a person is not ASD.. Intelligence was a poor choice of word..but the non verbal one is severely delayed in cognition as well..it has made his life very difficult..

But at the core pure intelligence n ultra sweetness Idk how to explain it

Am pretty sure your immune function is constantlly being stressed ..

A chronic infection in your blood most likely , ask to have your cortisol levels checked . You will need a specialty lab , to actually accurately diagnose your blood correctly .( Remember name of igenex lab in calif). Been there done that.

Thank you for the advice, I'll look into getting that checked if I'm not feeling any better after the holiday stress is over. Certainly seems possible, but it could just be the general stress from this time of year putting pressure on my immune system.

Ah, dang it, stupid me went to see Doctor Google. I was hoping to find reasons why that probably wasn't the case, but instead I find out that what I thought was brain damage from ECT, effects of my chronic insomnia, and random things my body was doing for no apparent reason (like on and off dizzy spells) may actually be signs of a blood infection. I may have picked it up from all the IV pokes I got while I was getting ECT, or when I was self-harming to make myself bleed. It might explain why my memory and cognitive changes after that time period are not all congruent with those typically caused by ECT. But then again, I don't have any skin discolorations and my fatigue level is not bad, and my problem with urination is different (unable to recognize when I have to pee until it's an emergency, blood infection can cause decreased urination, which I don't have). Well, I can't really do anything about it until after the holidays unless it becomes an emergency. After then, I'll see about setting up an appointment with my doctor to see what she thinks.

Most all m.d.s are not up to date on mycoplasma infections . And where ever whatever you read on infections , their symptoms varying with type of infection
.... am not writing this based on google . But much much too too much personal experience past and current. And literally mountains of research and reference material . Have only recently met with one m d that expressed , mirrored these concepts back to , me in a discussion of this type concerning infectious disease . And he was explaining to firstly to me things i had read learned and experience and ,supporting blood and tissue tested ,checked and biopsied that support the simple small opinion, i had made.
Some people obsess on easy stuff. Such as simple velco . Great distraction, when you doing research that can numb even the highest IQ functioning mind hfa or NT.
And am only able to function similiar to that for brief periods of time.. but it is
Extremely important information. Oddly enough conversely . Most of these issues can hopefully be addressed with a very good functioning immune system.. .... Learning how to help immune function is another issue. " The devil was in the details"

This seems to be an appropriate time to mention that I have an alibi.

The HP 1 remake from 2003 is a good game, at least as good as the sequel despite loading times.
