Been there too.
I’m trying to think how I overcame it: but I already know it was I hit a point when I broke down/burned out age 25, and didn’t start recovering till I was 29. I lost a lot of my anxiety about fitting in along the way.
Funny thing is, I have more people who treat me kindly now than I did when I was making a conscious effort to fit.
(And the part of England I live in is very conservative btw: I joke about it being “the bible buckle”)
What are you hiding?
unless that’s too personal in which case tell me to buzz off

No one knows what Machu Picchu was used for, but some believe it was a royal estate or a secret site for tribal ceremonies.

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.

People don't seem too worried about a virus in my washington state town. Downtown is packed. Tons of people for the hockey game. Packed in restaurants. Packed in the arena. They're all doomed :skull:

Hahaha i live in a horribly conservative place too, so i am kind of forced to fake some things.
But i feel like i have constructed a whole another personality for myself over the years and i sometimes miss my old self. I'm probably thinking and reflecting too much though.

Yes, I restrict how much of my internal self irl people know of: and some of my tastes and thoughts are just for me when I’m alone.
Not sold on the notion that there’s such a thing as thinking and reflecting too much though... although it’s certainly possible to get lost in self-defeating lines of thought.
Maybe try some old self things in a new form?

I’m thinking of how I used to try writing metal songs: then abandoned music entirely for several years, and then picked it up again but classical this time. I’m going to try writing a couple of little miniature instrumental pieces from melodies I jotted down last summer this afty: maybe there’s a similar continuity through rebirth kind of thing you could trial?

Ps. I really enjoyed that song you posted last night: saved the album playlist to my YouTube to listen to later! Thankyou for that: fitted my mood perfectly :D

^ I tend to reflect too much i can spend days in my head doing nothing but maladaptive daydreaming(?) while listening to music.
Trying to change this habit by actually doing something creative sounds fun, maybe i should get back to painting too, i used to take art lessons years ago.
Ah i'm glad you liked it! :D They're a hungarian band which i became interested in after discovering ethnic folk music, another awesome Hungarian folk band is Ghymes which you might also like if you're into this kind of music!

^ Yeah: get those brushes out and find out what the 2020 edition of April creates! :D
Dreaming on canvas/board with hand & mind together...
Plus all the fun of preparatory sketches and suchlike!

Did wonder what language it was, coolness: I’ll check out the other one too.
And to do a share back:

What happens when you teach a bunch of Viking-obsessed French goths old Norse and give them a selection of folk instruments. :D

Still thinking about all the lovely cats (and some awesome dogs, too) I saw when I visited my local Humane Society on Friday.

I'm the same way, but it led to making music instead of visual art. :nerdy:

Those who think they know everything are particularly annoying to those of us that really do.
