I usually break ice with a hammer or a similarly blunt implement. If love works, I've never seen it.

When I was child, winters were different. There was ice and snow all over, nine months a year. The following picture is not from the modern climate-change world, but it brings up memories.

That's a long winter. I grew up in the South of England, so we got snow most years, but sometimes not for long. I remember one year though, when it snowed briefly in June. June! 8O

Your winter was longer than mine, Krabo. We used to see snow in October or November, usually November, and it would stick to somewhere between March and May. March used to be winter month, but is now often free or partly free of snow and snow doesn't usually fall until December.

I'm happy to say that I've never seen snow in June, only May.

Remember Bornholm, Denmark, in December 2010?

Wow, that's what I call a snow clearing machine.

The sheer amount of snow, 5-6 meters or so, was exceptional. And it all fell on Denmark!

Which is so small compared to the three Scandinavian countries to the north of it!

And there is no climate change, they say.

Haha, yeah I remember that, Krabo! I also remember the snow chaos in England some years ago.

Embarrassingly we also saw some snow chaos in Oslo this winter. a lot of snow fell and the snow ploughs couldn't do their jobs because of all the cars 'trapped' in the snow. Pictures can be seen here:

and here: http://www.nrk.no/telemark/fullstendig- ... 1.12281031
that image of passengers pushing the bus is pretty funny!

The streets must have been horribly flooded when all that melted!

^ Sometimes they do, yes. But more often they tend to stay icy for a very long time instead :( It melts little by little and takes too long for us to get rid of it quickly, and it usually freezes again at night. I'm no fan of icy streets.

Floods are seen quite a bit in other areas though, like in mountains and near the river Glomma.

Plenty of ice for folk to put in their drinks!

Do the children build ice forts in Norway?

No. They dig trenches, because they're fighting a war against Putin and his Red Army.

I don't think you'd wish to place this ice - from the street - in your drinks...

Ice forts? No, but some will build snow forts or snow caves. When I was little, my father helped make a snow cave once (and when I say helped, I mean that I watched while he built it lol). It was a nice little cave to sit in with a tealight on a shelf. It didn't last long though. Soon enough some pieces of fecal matter destroyed it just for the f*** of it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, gad I hate brats.

And sadly, the vacation time is ending here now so the local brats are back. Yuck!! !! the good time is over for this year. :x :( :( :(
