People supporting me in my young adulthood up to now.

My family passed away early on and were too poor to leave assets to help support me. At the same time, I was not very functional in terms of maintaining myself and finding employment/housing on my own. I struggled immensely for a long time. Without these individuals, many of whom were strangers, I honestly think I would be either homeless or deceased by this point.

I have, within the past couple months, become actually independent.

I am grateful for my life and for my now very large family.

I've been around since before Elvis was born and have seen the world in its darkest times but by some miracle managed to get through it alive and well. I miss my dearest husband every day but am grateful that we had so long together.

I am grateful that I have such a loving and caring family and that I still have my health.

I'm grateful for life and for living. Sounds corny, but it was an uphill struggle to maintain emotional and psychological stability and I don't go a day without appreciating that I'm still here, making the most of it and thanking God for it. :D

...and I guess I'm also pretty grateful for opossums, because them critters is coooool...

Opossums are generally more scared of us than we are of them, but even if they do bite you, their blood temperature is too low to successfully carry the rabies virus or most diseases! They can bite you all night long and you won't die! :D

my dad told me the story of an unwary hunter who had shot and was in the process of skinning a possum, when he looked away for a second and the thing suddenly reared up after "playing possum" and almost bit his thumb off. imagine the pain that creature was to not make a peep or flinch when being skinned alive.
