It can be applied to both sexes, actually. Think of Renee Aberjanois (I know I must have misspelled that name), who played Odo on Deep Space 9.

Yes you're right, but Rene is for boys and Renee is for girls... it's an unwritten rule.
My official name is Renee with a dubble E.
But i like to spell it with a single E when people dont ask for my ''real'' name.
