With tax and deposit, a Cheap price for 72 tall cans of cider would be around $240 CDN.

It's possibly the best alcohol deal in the UK atm, 440ml cans. 36 units alcohol for £10.

I bought four cans of Siren Hard Pour Nitro Breakfast Stout at Morrison's Central Manchester store this afternoon. This stuff is ridiculously priced at £3 for a 440ml can, but they do a '4 for 3' deal, so 'only' £9, or £2.25 per can. It's not bad, very strong chocolatey flavour, if a bit 'flat' (not very carbonated, no foaming head). 6.5% alcohol as well.

10 or 20 ? You said it cost 40, so I'm guessing that's a typo.

Cheapest way to drink here is to brew your own - but - time/space/mess/smell etc. There are U-Brew places where you can go and pay to put on a batch of beer or wine then they do the work and you go bottle it later - but it tends not to last very long so you have to plan on drinking a lot or splitting the batch with others. It's cheaper, and some people do it, but it's not extremely popular - not like just stopping at a liquor store and buying a case. People are lazy and want convenience items.. so much so that so many basic cocktails and high balls are now sold in cans because people don't even pour and mix their own drinks anymore. Makes sense for on the go, but not much sense for at home.

Would be super cheap to distil your own alcohol, but that's illegal here. Otherwise I'd do that. 8)

It's not a very big place, is it? I went to Wigan on the train from Victoria as well.

Some ciders have always been very cheap. You used to be able to buy a 2 litre bottle of White Lightning or similar for less than three quid. Aldi were selling their own brand cider at 85 pence for a 500ml bottle until about a year ago. I bet the health fascists will put a stop to this sort of thing in the very near future....

Oh the memories; white lightening cider and camping out on Ainsdale Beach and making fires all night.

^ That's interesting, I was enquiring about the price of a return ticket to Southport at Wigan station just a few hours ago!

I used to live in Southport. There's a good Wetherspoons on Lord St and a good chippy here:
