It can be polluted and still be white(for example, it can have DDT in it).

Bottom line: Don't eat snow or ice. Norwegian kids are told this from they are little. I was too (not that it stopped me from eating snow though lol)

I was joking about the ice really, as there was so much of it!

I expect snow collected from the roof would be OK...

Snow is a rare occurrence here, except in the mountains, where it is quite clean away from human habitation.

^That would get schools closed in Texas.

I can't even imagine what amount of snow would get schools closed here.

There have been occasions though when schools have been closed up north because the indoor temperature was too low, sometimes under 10 degrees C.

It very seldom snows in Johannesburg. The first time I ever saw snow was in 1981 in Johannesburg. I thought it looked like snow when I saw it fall, as I knew it was light and feathery, unlike hail.

I've often seen snow since, during our hiking trips to the mountains. I love it!

I have a sudden image in my mind of a Mysterious Person making Snow Turtles, and other hikers being puzzled and

intrigued, wondering if a legendary family of Arctic Terrapins live nearby.
