Hylophobia is an irrational fear of trees. I read it usually begins in childhood when kids see scary scenes in movies or in fairy tales that place in the woods.

I spent much of my childhood surrounded by trees and being in the woods, so it's one of the few phobias I don't have, or have had at some point.

I've learned to answer people in a more civilized way than I have been doing. Especially on WP.

Finland has more heavy metal rock bands per capita than any other country in the world.

That The Little Rascals were originally known as Our Gang. Despite having watched episodes years ago, I hadn't picked up on that.

@lostonearth35 Eggs - to chill or not to chill.
Your Dad's pretty much right - there is a split between countries which wash and sterilize eggs (but which removes the protective layer), and those which don't. Here in the UK and most of Europe, eggs are not washed and they're not chilled when we buy them. But we also have another form of protection. After some very bad Salmonella outbreaks back when I was a child, they made it the law that our chickens are vaccinated against Salmonella, so there are very few germs for the chickens to spread. Because vaccination is optional in the USA, it would be illegal to sell your eggs in the UK.

The most important rule is this - once your eggs have been chilled, whether from the store or by yourself, you must keep them that way, so that the shells don't get wet with condensation which could soak into the shell, sucking in germs along with the water.

The US would rather risk people getting awful food poisoning than just use a vaccine on their chickens? Are they afraid the chickens will become autistic, too? Go figure.

One of my friends has no concept of physical health.

It takes a single one-page form and about four minutes for a person to apply to become an official candidate for President in the US.

I wonder if chickens flapping a lot is a sign of autism? No wait, that's what all chickens do.

that much written about Huey P. Long is balderdash, yet more historical balderdash written by the victors who more often than not won dirtily.

I learned that one of my knees is so badly damaged that only a knee replacement will fix it. However I am reluctant to have that done as it takes a year to heal and I would be worried about falling and breaking my hip. Surgeon was very nice and said let's review it in 6 months, we don't need to do anything unless the pain becomes intolerable if you don't want to, and some of the pain can be controlled with steroid injections if I want that.

Meantime oral painkillers still work reasonably well, that's the silver lining in this cloud.
