I also love Sylkat. I bet she's as sweet and cuddly as her mouse. :O)

I remember one time when school was not closed (they used to announce which schools were closed on the radio in the morning). I dutifully made my way to school, but I went my usual shortcut across the fields, instead of by road. The snow was almost waist high. I got there soaking wet, and only about ten kids and a few adults had bothered coming in, so we got sent home again.

^ Lovely snow turtles!

I wish I could make art like that! (and yes, look at them, they are art)

Speaking of art... In 1997 (how can it be that long ago?) an artist put up nicely done lizards on the walls of some of the outdoors subway stations in Oslo. They were nice to look at and made the walls less grey and boring. The subway company Oslo Spoveier's response was to remove them all, saying there were no difference between them and graffiti and other vandalizing. This is the only picture I could find of it, and sadly you can only see them so well:

^ I couldn't see any pictures of the turtles (I was hoping to, though), only of the artist

And DAMN, that is some 90's web page design, right there! That really takes me back, with the left-side menu, narrow layout, pale colour background, Times New Roman ... now I'm feeling nostalgic.

Green with envy!
Actually no, I'm not. Wet snow is no fun. I've spent enough days with wet and cold feet and calves because the snow was so wet it made the snow boots wet, or came into them because there was so much snow. Nothing fun about it.

:D seen some nice sand turtles too, they too were pieces of art.

I never said there were turtles, I said lizards. You can see one of them on the wall behind him. Image
People generally seemed to like them, but Oslo Sporveier did not.

And yeah, the 1990's... sigh... if only we could relive the good 'old' days...

*facepalm*

My bad, Skilpadde. I need to learn to read things through properly.

But yeah, what little you can see still looks nice. Who'd compare that to graffiti? :?

 Haha, maybe it was confirmation bias. Not everything I post is about turtles  On (sad) occasion I can't fit them into the topic. :P

Yes, they were nice looking. The artist made them out of cement by the way.

I know, right. It made the stations look nicer. There was also another incident where someone had painted a simple-looking but nice image of water (probably sea) and some fish on the walls of Smestad Station. They were painted over, so it all looked greyish brown again. Sigh.

There's a lack of lateral thinking on the part of officialdom.

Snow or no snow, South Africa is one of the most beautiful countries in the whole world. The Cape area even forms a biological entity in itself... was it fauna or flora? I have never been there, probably never will, but what I have seen on TV or the internet, it looks gorgeous. My sister has visited Namibia twice and the SA republic once, and the video clips she sent to me are like from a paradise.

Just to prevent my latest post to be my last post, I'd like to insert this wild-west-like horse scene. It has all the ingredients of a good couple, mother and her calf.

Who dares say there is no God?

It's funny to be at that point when you feel like you almost understand, but don't actually understand anything.

Except "art thou religious?", which doesn't count.
