I like knives very much, but I lose them all the time. So I stick to the basic Mora and if I lose it, it's cheap to replace.

We have coral snakes, rattlers and cottonmouths to keep a lookout for. Especially the coral snakes, as a gardener, that's where they like to hang out, under the mulch. Deadly venom. but teeth are small.

I have managed to lose 14 pounds of organic brown rice. I vacuum sealed it in two pound bags and put it on the table on the back porch to take to the storage shed. We have looked everywhere. No rice. :-(

Good choice there with basic Mora knives. I have a couple of Companions and a Bushcraft; I don't really know why, when one Companion would be enough. I suppose I can always gift two of them out to the neighbors. Good steel (whether stainless or carbon). Good grind. Good sheath. Good price, outside of the Garberg (which is massively overpriced).

I don't know much about North American snakes (well, I know a little), but it looks like the Coral snake is an elapid with mostly a neurotoxin, so a pressure-immobilization bandage would work in that case, which would give more time. Small fangs are a bother as you can miss bites. The Eastern browns here have small fangs, quickly strike and people can miss the bite entirely. It can feel like you brush against a stick (yeah, been there and passed out for 12 hours in hospital, lol; my poor mother. I have pictures of that bite somewhere, which of course she had to show everyone).

I hope your river trip goes well for you. :)

Sometimes I think I am walking storm and fire.
Sometimes I think I'm about to turn to ashes.

The mask mandate where I live has been lifted, and I actually went shopping without one even though many people were still wearing theirs. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts, right? We'll very likely have to all wear them again soon anyway.

I was just watching a video about meals people ate during the Depression. Most were very unappetizing and used a lot of gelatin. But when the second Depression hits, people in the distant future (if they're still alive), will probably be grossed out by all the variants of ramen noodle dishes that many are eating right now.

I once tried homemade spaghetti and meatballs with ramen noodles that spaghetti noodles, and I didn't like it. The only ways I like it is with the flavor packet and hot water like it's supposed to be made, or made into a stir-fry with vegetables and cooked chicken.

Personally I love ramen done up like that, but I'd probably like any noodles with homemade sauce.

I never bothered to look up anything about mask mandates. I just did my own thing from the beginning, which was wearing a P2 and my glasses since I knew that level of protection was needed against an airborne virus; I only cared about passing it on to a vulnerable person. I know they were in effect here, but apparently the people living around here didn't notice that one; stores didn't seem to care and neither did the local cop considering so many never wore them. :? Still doing the same thing with the P2 and glasses. Hoping I don't have to go to another high-risk exposure site so I can continue on with regrowing my beard.

I'm kinda used to eating the most basic of things. It's easier (executive dysfunction), and cheaper. What I choose to eat is probably healthier too, but that one doesn't really matter. I'm also kinda used to not eating much of anything for a few days at a time more than I'd like to admit. I guess it does make you appreciate things more though. I guess this is just how Dill survives, and he does, which is what matters.

Addendum to birth record shenanigans, where I have two birth dates according to different government bodies (same month and year, just different day): My mother informed me that the former is also associated with a different name in official records. Jesus Christ. There's an even more invisible version of me out there (non-existent in this case). I'm laughing far too much.

It's not a bad name.

I need to get away from my perfectionist mom for at least the next several hours.

Earlier today, as my NT sister and I were eating breakfast, my NT sister told her that today's weather will be sunny and warm. She expressed a rebuttal; the rebuttal being "I doubt it."

I still wear an N95 mask when I am in stores or other people's homes. My clients are almost exclusively high risk, so I want to protect them as well as me.

The canoe trip is planned for late July and into August. I hope to be out for at least three weeks. Lots to do before then.
When tripping, I prefer basic food. Hot chocolate and home made granola for breakfast. Protein bars. Ramen. Dried fruit. Salty snacks.

At home, too. Eating more simply. Tonight homemade cabbage soup.

Dill, having conflicting birthdates and names can wreak havoc with getting government benefits in this country. I deal with it all the time. If a health insurer gets your name spelled wrong, you are sunk unless you use their version of your name.

I wish I wasn't so submissive and that I stuck up for myself more. I fear that my submissiveness will get me hurt or killed one day.

blazingstar,

Apparently in my state, well country actually, they aren't sticklers for record keeping. I found all of this out recently as I had to get personal affairs stuff in order for personal stuff. It's amused me as over the decades, I've given the birth date that's on the birth certificate to Federal agencies and facilities where they would have the other date in their records, but they went with what I gave them and didn't question me at all, even though it would have shown up differently on their screens. :? The birth certificate seems to supersede it all too for those important things when more evidence than just words are needed, so I guess that's the "correct" one. The other one is associated with two different first names depending on what evidence is used. I suppose I just find it a funny footnote, and humor was helpful. Private companies just get the certificate so no issues there.

I found out by a rather stickler Fed. worker who out of hundreds didn't let it slide. 'No, that's the wrong day.' 'Ah, yeah, that's when I was born.' 'No.' That went on for longer than was comfortable. It may or may not have made me question my sanity at the time.
