listening to the kids of widney highs' version of
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, TKOWH are a semi famous band made up of intelectualy disabled teens and adults who attend the american special school; widney high, theyre a old favourite of mine but am a fan of their version of respect in particular because am also intelectualy disabled and experience prejudice, hate and bigotism from society every day when out in the community.
Quote:
What you want, baby we got it
What you need, you know we got it
All we’re asking for is a little respect
What’s up, what’s up, respect!
What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, respect!
Don’t ignore us, when you walk by
We’re not that different, and that’s no lie
All we’re asking for is a little respect
What’s up, what’s up, respect!
What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, respect!
Please don’t tease us, and treat us like dirt
You don’t know how much it hurts
All we’re asking for is a little respect
What’s up, what’s up, respect!
What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, respect!
(Solo)
You stop and stare, and that’s not cool
We have feelings, just like you
All we’re asking for is a little respect
What’s up, what’s up, respect!
What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, respect!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, we’ll be brave whatever you do
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, better watch out, it could happen to you
Don’t dis us, don’t dis us, ………
What’s up, what’s up, respect!
What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, respect!….
