Froya, that's a great project. Question though: why is it your responsibility to renovate an apartment? Aren't landlords supposed to take care of the bill for that?

Because I've taken the big leap of bying an apartment. So I'm actually the owner of it! :)
I will also be paying a small rent every month wich goes to expenses of the housing association. For example: Municipal taxes, renovations of the exterior of the house and mowing of the communal lawn.

Yep. Its no fun. But so goes life many times. Us humans are prideful stubborn beings who typically only learn and grow by suffering and hardship.

Like they say what doesnt kill you... its cliche but really true. People who have had easy lives often lack character. Or thats what I like to tell myself anyways...

By that logic, you'll build character as you persevere and lift yourself out of hopelessness?

Thats the theory. I believe it in large part. Just hard to perservere when when everything feels so bleak.

I haven't done enough studying this week because I've been feeling depressed. Not an option, Rachel, not an option. Can't believe I was such an idiot!! Well, I can. Now I have to find the time to make it up. Damn it, Rachel!

Edit: also I have perhaps one genuine, unspoilt happy memory, and when I feel really bad it tends to crop up unintentionally in my thoughts or dreams as if my mind is trying to fight back against my hopelessness. Which is great, it really is, but too much and I start to slip into an unreal delusion, which is scarily addictive. So there's that. :|

I agree, and yes, people with problems (or previous problems) are the often the most interesting of characters.

What's up, friend?

Every system in my house is Arch Linux now plus they are all encrypted AND they all use gpt. Two UEFI systems with the GUID Partition Table and a bios system with the GUID Partition Table which I didn't even think was possible but can work though its a bit hacky for me. Now I am rocking sddm / plasma, LightDM / Mate and Slim / Awesome. Best setup ever, I think I am going to try and maintain this for a while before doing another clean install.

I feel like anyone who wants to own something as dangerous as a brain should be required to study the manual.

Well I more meant it like adversity builds character, not makes one a character... which is also true however. But you know, teaches one virtues like patience, perseverance, self contentment, and so forth. But both are true I think.

What's up is a very long story which I've gone on about at great length over the least few months here and wont hijack the thread. Long story short I'm coping with my wife who i was with for 12 years leaving me about 5 months ago. But it was dragging on until early Sept. I'm devastated still. Too much to say. Its the worst thing thats ever happened to me. So...

Will having dreaded hair make it hard to get a job...lol, I hate my stringy unshapely hair so I had my brother dread it....however it takes like a year for the things to actually mature so they are a bit unsightly currently. I imagine tying my hair back and such should be sufficient unless they are extreme sticklers on things like that.

It depends on where you live. There was a time in Austin where being white with dreads was a free pass to most things. You might not get a job at Wal-Mart, but do you really want to?
