I would like to have a cat. Just don't have the space for a pet.

Unless it was fish...maybe.

I started my hot sauce today. It needs to ferment for a week.

Scotch bonnets, bird’s eye chilis, some other random peppers and a bit of onion and garlic.

A fair bit of salt too, to control the environment during fermentation.

A little bit of the fluid from probiotic yogurt too, just to ensure it was adequately dosed with lactic acid producing bacteria.

It is great that it is raining here. It will help with the heat and fire risks.

I really really need to start making kombucha. I've been meaning to for so long. Bought the supplies and everything.. Now just need a friend to pick me up and toss me into the kitchen to start it already. That friend *should* be my own motivation, but...

I'm seriously considering getting yet another kitten, throwing caution to the wind, and allowing myself to truly become a crazy cat lady. That, or it can be a new hobby and I'll just do rescues and adoptions to keep myself busy. I'll get some cat shelves put up on the walls and maybe do another aquarium. I used to love keeping large aquaria. Why do I deny myself the things I love?

I'm officially certifiable. I got another kitten today. She's another rescue, in addition to the one from Friday.
They're born just four days apart and they're already bonding.

That makes:

20 year old boy cat --- won't be with us much longer :(
2 year old girl cat
1 year old girl cat
Girl kitten born 17 April
Girl kitten born 21 April -- came with a free straightjacket for me

+

12 year old dog

Reh-sippy?

I really just threw things together, I'll have to decipher a recipe after the fact.

What's kombucha like? My only point of reference is a System of a Down song.

"There Is No 'I' Or 'Me' In 'Three Words Story'"

"What's kombucha like?" sour but refreshing 'tis weird... if you drink it at the right time (after just a few days of ferment) it's "perfect"... too quick and it's just sweet tea, too long and it's vinegar

Spoilered because gross.

I swear you can't know true hell until you've taken such an uncomfortable s**t that you were sweating buckets and had to strip off all of your clothes (also, why does that help lmfao). Every time I wonder why I have problems with avoiding going to the bathroom my body needs to remind me exactly why. :?

Kombucha can be very wonderful - It's basically like a soda, except instead of fizz from carbonation, you've got fizz from the natural fermentation of a base (usually black tea) and... sugar? sometimes? And once the main liquid is safely fermented, you can add your flavors. My bestie has made anywhere from blueberry to mango to strawberry, pineapple, lavender kombucha... all were a delight. I hope I'll make mine just as good (if I ever get *started*).
