Well since we're taking white historical figures and having them played by non-white actors. It's only fair black historical figures are played by non-black actors.

It doesn't make a difference if the actors are talented.

If this were a biography of Anne Boleyn race would make a difference, sure - but in this context? It really isn't a factor.

I thought the reason they now have non-white actors playing major parts in historical or fictional dramas is just to give them a chance to act parts that aren't 'the servant' or some minor role like that. Because most, if not all, British history and historical dramas are about white people in the major roles, so any non-white characters are restricted to minor roles. They are being more equal about it now.

I really like seeing all the non-white actors in shows like Bridgerton and Great Expectations, it adds different angles and depths to the storyline. e.g. in Great Expectations, Estella and Mr Jaggers are Black and Herbert Pocket is Asian.

The central issue to a theatrical performance, for hundreds of years, is the willing suspension of disbelief. We all know that it’s made up and acted by people who are merely portraying a part. Part of the illusion is that we forget this is the case. If it’s a good production and well acted the illusion is more complete. Age, sex, race, disability doesn’t even come into it.
