Dear Amity, I'm not too fond of noise especially in my workplace for, it's hard for me to block it out.

:) I don't understand why such little things turn into a calamity, at least I can walk away from this noisy house.

I don't understand why such little things turn into a calamity? I'm not sure Amity cause, for me I have to sometimes try to close my eyes temporarily that is without looking odd by other co-employees.

Many emotive reactions seem to involve noise and that's fine. Its the needless dramatic reactions and associated high pitched noises that are irritating me.

If you don't mind me asking how does closing your eyes help with the noise in work?

I apparently didn't catch someone's sarcasm when he asked if mass shootings were normal, and proceeded to explain in detail how they are not normal because they're only about 1% of all shootings (in the US) and shooting deaths make up only 1.3% of all deaths in the US, and that cardiovascular disease takes out about 258 per 100,000 people, while violence in general (not just guns) takes out about 26 per 100,000, ten times less. Thus, mass shootings are far from normal.

He then said, "I'm sure the folks in Roseburg will take comfort in your number crunching." (the city that just got shot up)

We're both speaking completely different languages here, apparently...

A computer desk I bought yesterday got broken...while I was trying to put it together!! :wall:

No seriously, the wooden parts were made of chipboard that were about as durable as cardboard, and they broke into pieces!

It was a cheap desk, only about 20$, but 20$ down the drain is still 20$ down the drain. Maybe I can still refund it or exchange it for something else. I'm just glad I didn't buy the chair that was supposed to go with it. I would *not* want that falling apart while sitting on it! 8O

Uniform order time at work and nobody will listen to me when I say I want to try these dark red matt jersey tops instead of the boring and constricting button up blouses. Stupid lady at work hasn't bothered to notice that nobody in the office is wearing those blouses except for her, because we mere mortals fluctuate in dress size and the blouses we bought before don't fit us anymore. Hence why I want these stretchy tops instead, so I can go up to a size 14 again, or I can lose a few more kg down to a size 10 and fit won't be a big deal. As it stands my last shirts (which were a size 8!!) are lost somewhere in the piles of clothes in my spare room. I'm not buying more useless overpriced button up blouses to inevitably add to the pile.
