Ignoring someone is better than open hostility.

I agree with you there. Sometimes it's better to ignore than it is to start something.

As I like to say, best way to handle a situation like that is to stop it from happening all together. Don't start anything and it won't be anything.

this thread has become quite popular.
i feel that this thread has taken off without me, and i do not know what to say any more.
there are many socially valuable people who have settled like pigeons in the chimney of this bastion, and i can no longer contribute because it is all small talk and banter now.

i put some sugar out for my little birds in a dish this morning, and i heard them all squawking at lunch time, and i opened the door, and i saw crows eating what i left out for the little birds. life in the wild i guess.

insult me all you like for my sentiment but it will not change.

Yes, I agree. A separate thread doesn't change anything for those who aren't group oriented in the first place.

I have never been a "popular" person IRL or here, which I wish I could just learn to live with really. However probably more to the point is like others have already said sometimes it can be upsetting when you say something and feel that it gets ignored especially if you have taken a long time to write it.

I think sometimes I don't reply because I have no solutions and just posting a sympathetic response seems so ineffectual. But I know how I feel when I just need an acknowledgment and don't get one so I will resolve to be better. When I'm upset that no one has responded, I don't often enough see it from another person's perspective that others might not be posting a response for the same reason.

Exactly this thing has happened in this thread with me, I have been following it but not knowing what to say. Also sometimes whilst I am plucking up courage to post other people will say something similar to what I would have so I think I it then seems unnecessary for me to write it but maybe I should anyway...

I just wanted to say though that I remember reading posts by everyone that has posted in this thread so you have not gone unnoticed, sorry that I don't often know what to say though.

Maybe it's just aswell that I preview my posts because there have been 2 new posts whilst I was writing this reply!

well i am not able to express myself clearly because i am very tired (on the verge of sleep), but i think that when someone says they feel left out, and they are suddenly swamped in congratulatory threads by people who are very popular, it is just a charity situation.
the popular people want to have a clean conscience and they post sentiments that are contrived to make the unpopular persons feel more accepted. but it is not a real thing. it is just a temporary thing so that popular people can look more nice by stooping to talk to those who are less popular.

then it becomes a talk fest between popular people who see other popular people also stooping to say a kind word, and before long, they are brimming with things to say to other popular people who also came here to show how "nice" they are by talking to the unpopular people, who, by that time have nothing "adequate" to say to compete with the popular people who are posting.

i can not talk in the arena of titan geek and vigilans and moog etc. i have a simple mind and i can only skirt the fringes of social reality. anyway, what i am glad about is that i am off to sleep now and no one on earth can change that.
