cd /mnt/
sudo mkdir exthd
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 (or whichever block device your external drive uses) /mnt/exthd
sudo chown user:user /mnt/exthd (where "user" is your username)

Once you do this, you should have full control over your external hard drive. Note that this is only a temporary mounting and that you'll have to do it again after you reboot.

I tired that but without the :user, I only typed my username once, whats the difference between doing it that way? This drive has issues, its filesystem shows up as unknown so put line through my last post, it is corrupt but I think found a work around, I can reformat it as a GPT drive apparently according to gparted so I am double checking I got everything and than I am going to nuke it here in about five minutes.

Oh sorry, I have developed my own tech speech, format is nuke, backup is lifeboat, etc.

I think there is a screenshot of my Laptop's Desktop floating around here and I had folders named lifeboat 1 & 2 and thats backups from another computer.

Anyway the drive is formatted now so I guess nothing has made me unhappy today

Trust me, you need the second part. The first part is for your username, the second part is for your user group. Each username has its own group.

I woke up with an allergic reaction, possibly hives, on my left thigh. My mom thought it was working with the real Christmas tree the night before. I tried taking Benadryl and applying Cortizone, as well as putting ice on the area. It it only about halfway healed. The itching is gone, but it still feels warm to the touch, has a few bumps here and there, and stings slightly when I touch it. FML.

the wire coat hangers i have undone don't seem to be enough to make my wire skeleton for the klay crown i'm planning to make. still don't know how i'm gonna sculpt the clay around it.

Had a bad therapy session today, I couldn't think of anything to say and my therapist said we should meet less and thats not really what I wanted. Therapy is the only thing that keeps me sane but because I never voice what I want, we are going to meet once a month
