In comparison to their mothers, porcupines are one of the largest newborn mammals.

In the Canadian/American ending of The Paper Bag Princess book by Robert Munsch, the princess calls the selfish, ungrateful prince she just rescued a bum before calling off their marriage and then happily leaving to live her own life.
That I already knew. But I learned that in England, Australia, and New Zealand she calls him a toad instead.

I read that the author was told that in those countries no one calls anyone a bum, and preferred the word toad instead. I guess because it means a person's behind? But in Canada bum can also mean a person's behind (in Canada "butt" was thought as being too rude until the 1990's), and in some Canadian prints the princess calls him a toad. But I don't think I've ever heard anyone in Canada call anyone a toad.

I guess "toad" is kind of a more fitting insult for an arrogant prince, but I don't find it as funny as "bum". :P

I've learned that there a whole bunch of films that are often marketed under another name completely in various countries, for reasons that would be more appealing or attract those crowds of persons within those nations.

The Lion King is not only the highest-grossing traditional animated film ever, it may indeed be Disney's most successful movie ever made.

The theatre version was proposed and created in 1997, and has since been the third longest running stage play ever, it won 70 awards, has millions of viewers, and has played on every continent except the Arctic and Antarctica. When the studio first mentioned the idea, no one thought it would work, and just laughed at them.

The next James Bond movie (currently with the working title of "Bond 25") is set for a Spring 2020 release, making the first Bond movie since The Living Daylights to not be released during the fall.

Production will begin January 2019.

I learned that the large brown oval on Jupiter's surface is called the "brown barge". I always remember Jupiter having it, but I never knew what it was called until now. Also, scientists can apparently see into the great red spot to determine Jupiter's composition from Earth, which I thought was pretty cool.

Male reindeer shed their antlers in early to midwinter, but female reindeer keep theirs.

That must mean Santa's reindeer are all girls. :rendeer:

You should never tip a server if you visit any restaurant in Japan. It's considered rude.

I've learned that if I don't do something of my own accord, I'll be stuck in the doldrums forever because I failed to carry out the tactical objectives which literally remove me from unpleasantness.

Mississippi did not ratify the 13th Amendment until 2012.

Bloody hell, they should be dismissed as state(sarcasm here)But, seriously that goes to show me that the ghosts of slavery & racism never died but simply lingered on for several centuries.
