I'm saying that the picture of me at 2 1/2 makes me seem like I make eye contact, and that I'm "normal." Of course, that's a subjective viewpoint.

The answer is actually #3. I've never stayed in a hospital overnight. And I did have an operation for strabismus when I was 2.

Without Isabella's posh and heavenly scent, the Two Truths and a Lie thread just isn't the same.

O Captain, my Captain!
I'm trying!

Give me a general topic and I'll see what I can do.

How about------Uni? Your courses, your tutors, your peers, your adventures.

Did you go to Cambridge, and ride on that canal? And stay at one of those nice residences?

Note: I never heard the term "Uni" until I came to WP.

1. During my first year in Uni I was the last person in my dorm to complete my pre-Christmas exams. I was completely alone in the building for three days of heartbreakingly lonely hell while studying Philosophy, listening to Bing Crosby and fending off a nervous breakdown, much like Lucy Snowe in Villette.

2. I wanted to join the marching band but couldn't play an instrument, so I inquired about playing the triangle. I failed triangle practice and was relegated to flag-carrying instead.

3. My most challenging class ever was Anthropology. I was able to ace two classes in applied mathematics but couldn't understand the carbon-dating of artifacts.

I'm strongly inclined towards #3 being your Lie.

1 and 3 are true.
2 is my lie. I did inquire about the triangle and about flag carrying but was denied both requests.

1. It was a six hour drive from home to Uni and my dad drove me there when I began. There were bedsheets proclaiming "Fathers, kiss your virgin girls goodbye!", hung in the laneway as we approached. I was aghast but my dad chuckled and told me it was a joke.

2. While in Uni I had two goldfish: a white one named Fluffy and an orange one named Snowflake. I liked to be contrary. I took my fish back and forth from home for the length of my undergrad, but they eventually died from a disease called Ick.

3. I took a Drama class wherein we were required to memorize multiple soloiloquys by Shakespeare and recite them on demand while juggling on stage. We had to learn the juggling skills on our own without knowing when we would be tested (pre-internet).

#2 again. I just can't envision you taking fish to and fro all the time

1. My junior high (the one in Manhattan, not the one in Queens) was named after an ex-mayor of New York

2. I had a 1 1/2 hour commute each way to my school from late 1976 to early 1978.

3. A girl gave me a poem on the Far Rockaway A train one day. It warmed my heart, since it was 9 degrees (minus 12 Celsius) that December, 1976 morning. There was very little heat on the train, which was built in the late 40's.

I think 1 is your lie, Mr. Kort.

You're right. 2 was my lie but it was essentially true. I did have the fish and they died from Ick, but they only survived one year and I didn't transport them. I've since improved my fish-keeping skills considerably.

How I wish #3 WASN'T my lie!

Everything about #3 was true----except for the girl giving me the poem.

A very cold, lonely time for me on that A Train travelling to school every day.

I went to Robert Wagner Junior High in Manhattan. Wagner was mayor of NYC from 1953 to 1965.

I would have poemed you :(

Give me a new topic if you will.

Hmmmm. That's a tricky time.

1. Immediately after graduation I embarked on a month-long international journey. My bags were packed to go during my commencement ceremony, and I barely heard my name called because I was more obsessed with my trip.

2. During my trip I was stranded in one country because the airplane engine was damaged. I was put up at a very expensive 5 Star hotel near the airport as compensation. The hotel manager asked me to marry him after one too many martinis, on the second night.

3. I was distraught that my career dream could never be realized and that I had no idea what to do with my future, because a key "career" figure passed away unexpectedly.

#1. You were proud to graduate—especially after the soliloquies and the juggling (which you succeeded in after an epic struggle).

Try again.
Yes I was proud, but I desperately wanted to travel. 1 is true.

The guy proposed to you during the first night?

Third night, and he was drinking bourbon. So yes, 2 is my lie.

I think you’re a fine lady.

I hope you shall have a most fruitful future.

I think you will—through, alas, the hard lessons you’ve learned.

One thing you’ve kept....is your youthful joie de vivre
