I owned an SKS - real Russkie one too, 1951 Tula arsenal. I could nail anything I could ee out to nearly 300 yards with it. But then I developed some neurological issue that has left me weakened to the point that I cann rarely shoulder such a thing.

Looking to get a carbon 15, hah! Like I will have that much cash.

I diaper myself, put a T-Shirt on, get into bed, grab a Routemaster, cuddle with it and close my eyes and sleep, until morning comes.

The "Maneki Neko", or "Lucky Cat" figurines found in many of Japan's shops and resturants, are rumored to be based around the story of a Japanese Bobtail whose "beckoning" raised paw directed a group of wayward Samurai into a monestary, saving their lives during a violent storm.

OH HEY I just remembered I need to scoop the litter boxes! *takes off*

What exactly was the Unabomber infamous for? I've read several books that reference him (or her, I suppose), but I've never been able to find an article or book that explains who he/she was.

The UnaBomber (Theodore Kaczynski) was a notorious serial bomber who sent numerous bombs through the mail.
his bombs killed three people, and maimed several others. He targeted UNiversities, Airlines and
technology companies. He started doing this in 1978, and was finally arrested in 1996 by Federal
agents in Montana, after he was turned in by his own family. He pleaded guilty at his trial and is now
serving a life sentence. For more info. check Wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore Kaczynski.

Oops I forgot that this thread is about Aspie stereotypes.
I used to own an SKS56 but I had to sell it six years ago.
There is a gun show coming up in ten days, until then I will
work, rock back and forth (at home in private), and do a few
magic squares and Pentomono puzzles.

The unabomber was a psycho. He was far american leftie:mainly within the politics of environmentalism. he mved far out of the way into the wilds of (was it idaho), where pretty obviously the government did not even try to track him.

But his idyllic country life was not enough. if an airliner flew over he could not find it within himself to say to himself what idiots are riding the thing to business meetings and such; rather, he got intensely angry at the plane and all in it for interrupting his personal solitude and makeing a mess of everything.

so he began to send bombs to various peropel in industry (seems pretty randomly chosen) so to express his anger.

the leftist aspect to his life did not much get airplay, but there are nuts everywhere.

Nope, it was designed parallel to The AK by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov (thus the name, Samozaryadniy Karabin sistemi Simonova 1945, Self-loading Carbine, Simonov's system, 1945), and was intended to be part of a family of rifles firing the same caliber. Eventually reality caught up to the Russians and they realized the days of non-automatic weaponry were over, and they ended up giving most of them away to allied countries and communist affiliated rebels. Actually, Kalashnikov designed a sub-machine gun that was rejected in favor of the PPS 43.

BTW: I can certainly relate to your co-worker thing, except for me it was in school, which made it worse. People were wondering (out loud, right in front of me) whether I was gonig to bring a gun and open up, Columbine style. Meanwhile I'm thinking to myself: "Well, that certainly isn't helping to disuade me, asshat!".

Yes, I have this particular issue of Cat Fancy at home. It's in my bathroom behind my copy of "Catmopolitan".

Kalshnikov designed a better tach while a tank comander, the design was accepted and he was transfered to the tank factory to improve production of theT34. They were engineers, mechanics, he a Commander who wore a pistol, production increased dramatically. He did not want a lot of design change, Red Army tanks had a short life, the only way they could match the Leopards and Tigers of the Germans was with numbers, charging in such waves that some would get through, and get the rear shot that worked.

Americans had the same problem, out ranged, and under gunned, a hit to the front or side bounced off, as the Germans were taking them out. The Russians used frontal assult, and flanking, so someone would be in shooting position, one hit to the rear took out the engine, which killed the tank, and it was a long walk home.

Klashnikov was an early form of systems analyst, starting by doing a final check before sending the tank to the front, they were working when shipped, then he worked his way back the line solving assembly and parts supply problems, he was persuasive, and all the lines flowed smoothly. Soon the factory ran much better, for failure could be met with an order to drive the tank to the front, or as Stalin's hand picked Commander, who had seen thousands of good men die, he was empowered to shoot anyone on the spot.

He learned every job, was the best friend of good workers, and when he asked to have a part made, they turned out their quota, and made what he wanted. The factory made it's numbers, and more, and it all paid off at Stalingrad. It was not put in service till two years after the war, 1947.

The factory made other weapons, he was in charge, kept production rolling, but saw the flaws in the designs. It was no time for change, but he had a special gift, he humored designers, went to the workers, and said, the designer has clean hands, book knowledge, his words mean little to me, you are men of machines, please tell me, how do we best make this? They told him, and loudly before everyone, he later ordered them to do what they had told him, or else. Every level of production improved, push from the bottom, beats pull from the top.

Was this thread about cats, I once saw a cat, it had fur, but it looked me in the eye, so I left.
