The question that needs to be asked do I really need a middle income college educated brat rubbing my nose in it (don't shoot the messenger that's what I've been led to believe what Autisim is (Autism Tv) I could elaborate though I 'll bite my tongue and stop other wise I''ll have Cindi Brady tattle on me to her Mommy (mods) perhaps these tattle tails should take heed of Mike Brady's advise "Cindi nobody likes a tattle tail"

But it's all right I suppose I know I'm just as superior as the petit bourgeois people around here because being non mentally depressive any more I know realise the things that are meant to be important to an autistic :) ain't so, most of you make no sense to me, whats so ever in fact.

Barley wine is disgusting, horrid stuff! Here, I have a bottle of BrewDog Devine Rebel, a 12.1% barley wine if you want it.

Real ale pubs are rarer than rocking horse dung in Canada. Get yourself over here and we can go to York or Sheffield - some lovely real ale pubs in those two cities. :)

Your right anything over 10 % is suspect though Belgium beers are ok at that gravity thanks to their high % of simple sugars which lightens the beer.

I think ideal beers are in the 6% - 8 % range.

i like my beers to be a minimum of 6%, given the choice. barleywine is awesome to my tastebuds!! !! but the last time i drank it i severely overdid it and ended up with the hangover of a decade. i'm sad to say that i've stopped drinking beer at all really because it seems to give me headaches and migraines (even just one bottle).

i guess nobody here would care for my keystone light. it is non-bitter and goes down as easy as any homeopathic brew could go down. i admire and would gladly meet any other WPers with a similar taste in light alcoholic beverages. :) Image

Alcohol has such a way of masking bitter flavours I once (tried) to make a really really intense high gravity beer aroungd 15 % and used a shed loads of Simcoe and Amarillo hops which basically = to drinking a tropical cocktail , finished product? nothing more than fizzy sweet alcoholic water , you would have not at all known I had used fruity type hops  ,

why not just drink whisky instead ?

Right, I'm off to the Cask and Fuggle for a pint of Muggeridge's Old Stinker, a 6.4% strong dark ale. ;)

You'd be an outcast in British drinking circles then. Most people won't touch anything over 5%, and that's pushing it.

What! I prefer 6-10% beer. I thought you fogbreathers could drink!

Most British beer people prefer to drink in quantity rather than picking stronger beers. In fact, in pubs most people don't like going over 4.5% or in some cases even 4%. Most beers are around the 4% mark these days, which can lead to a very dull experience. Which is why I drink at home these days more often than not.
