I think people on this site (namely my friends and/or anyone who was sick of me moaning about my lack of a special interest) will be happy to read this post:

The other night I did some journaling and figured out that the reason why it has taken me so long to stop mourning over my special interest in Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movies is because of how attached I was to the characters. But I couldn't figure out why I was more attached to those characters than ones from my past, and then it hit me: I spent every night for two solid years talking to those characters and pretending that they could hear me and respond. This must have fooled my brain into thinking that my one-sided "relationship" with the characters was real and I became deeply emotionally attached to them.

Eventually I became bored with them, as is the case with every special interest I have within the span of 2 to 3 years, and I was ready for some new imaginary friends. But that deep emotional attachment to the characters from Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's movies prevented me from developing new special interests with different fictional characters. I felt guilty for setting aside my favorite Burton/Depp characters because I was afraid of hurting their feelings, just as I would with a real friend. I've just got to convince myself that they would want me to be happy, and what would make me happy would be to develop bonds with new characters, so that's what I've got to focus on now.

Ever since I came to this conclusion, my mom says that she has noticed that I am much happier now. And it's true. The only problem is that I still feel touchy about the subject of Tim Burton or Johnny Depp, so every time I see or hear anything about them, I feel sad again and have to repeat my mantras of "Let it pass" and "They want you to be happy". Unfortunately this happens on a somewhat frequent basis, as Burton and Depp are obviously very famous, so their names are bound to come up on TV and on websites.

I remember when my obsession with the Late 70s and the Punk Movement came to an end, but by choice. I was a little shaken up, looking at myself with natural hair and my natural face. I went back to what I last knew in 2006 but got rid of the glasses I didn't need to begin with. My mum didn't like me as a Punk and she didn't like me being myself until I've recently told her to smarten up if she wants me to keep visiting her. I'm happier than I was this time in 2007 or 2008. Sid wants me to be happy, so I'll keep being the 60s Mod that I'm intended to be.
