By way of this song, I learned three things:

1) Black and white is always gray
2) Yield to the right of way
3)Never look straight in the sun's rays

And, something I knew already: Husker Du is a favorite band of mine, I already liked this song and I like the album it came from, Zen Arcade.....

Contrary to popular belief, Kansas is not the flattest state in the U.S but is actually Florida.

I saw someone else using WIC. That reminded me I'm not as weird for using it, as my mind tried to tell me.
I think my mind may hate me sometimes.

Spanish tennis player Tommy Robredo supports wheelchair tennis in his home country. (He also got his first name from the Pinball Wizard title character in the musical by The Who. His father was a big fan of the band and named his son Tommy).

More Spanish tennis player trivia:

Juan Carlos Ferrero was named for the former King of Spain.
David Ferrer loves to read and has kept every book he ever read. He is also a cat lover.
Rafael Nadal is scared of dogs.

I love Spanish names.

I read in the news that some 7-year old kid called 911 because he didn't like the snow pants he got for Christmas.

Apparently he had been instructed to only call 911 in an actual emergency.

I've learned that in the world there is roughly 20-25 rich nations as well as 20-25 poor nations..

Masks with human faces were worn on the back of the head by the villagers in 1986 in the Sundarbans, on the theory that tigers usually do not attack if seen by their prey.

Tidsoptimist is a Swedish word for someone who thinks they have more time than they actually do.

I've learned that grief can cut so deeply that it isn't possible to cry.

The use of CAPITAL LETTERS TO DENOTE SHOUTING dates back to the 19th century.

On northern lakes, on a calm day, if a loon begins its long lonely cry, a hard wind is coming (as in a real blower in about 5 minutes.)

A good friend is just going off WIC; her daughter is now 4 (or is it five, I can't keep track). I was there for her birth. Both Mom and daughter are doing very, very well. You are not weird. You are taking care of your baby. Our minds get into ruts and play tricks on us.

Most lifeboats launched off the Titanic were not filled to capacity.

That I can't bake.

Baked 2 Light Fruit Cakes last week & they didn't turn out. Baked 2 dark the other day, and they are OK, but baked two more today & they didn't turn out either. Tester said was OK, but the very bottom wasn't. Each broke in half as I tried to extricate them from the aluminium foil.

Oh well... Just buy them from the store from now on I suppose.

Distractive walking can be more dangerous than distractive driving, according to a study.
