I like:

-Man in the Mirror
- We are the World, (though there were other people singing too)
- Human Nature
- Rock with You

But really I like pretty much most of his songs. I am a huge fan.

Michael Jackson never abused children. If he did then there would've been WAY more than 2 children speaking out. And the first kid admitted recently that his father made him say those things. Its just some idiot people who want to ruin a great humanitarian. Yes I am a huge MJ fan and like just about all of his music(literally) and was kinda devastated when he died. It was like losing my whole childhood. Anyway my favorite MJ song is either Smooth Criminal, or Heal the World. But Black and White is up there too...along with You Rock my World and...(goes on)

I also like Leave Me Alone a lot. It hasn't been mentioned yet.

I wish we could set aside his controversy and focus on his music, at least in this thread. He is quite a legend, after all.

Michael Jackson was my first musical fascination. I was obsessed with him at age 10. The Dangerous album was the first album I ever bought and I played it so many times I'm surprised the cassette didn't break. I moved on to other musicans and styles, but now that he is died I am rediscovering his music and how wonderful he was. My favourite songs were Black and White, Who is it, Jam, Smooth Criminal, Thriller, Billie Jean, Ben, Don't stop til you get enough, and more.

As for his personality, noone can deny that he was messed up, but this was probably a result of his childhood. And I never beleived he hurt any children at all. He has the mind of a child, and a child is not capable of doing those things.

MJ was ret*d? 8O

ret*d people have raped people before. I have read cases about it. I have also read about them doing killings too. So don't ever assume people with minds of children are incapable of hurting people. Did you know some of them have been executed too in the past? Luckily the US supreme court outlawed it in 2002 but it doesn't protect people with borderline MR. Ones who have IQ of 70 or below are protected from the death penalty but they are locked up for life.

Children have also done crimes too because I have heard about it. In 1995 a ten year old boy shot his 5 year old sister with his father's rifle and I can remember my mom telling me about it and I also heard it on the news and it surprised me because I couldn't understand why a brother would kill his sister. Then he had no one to play with. I also remember in 1998, a 13 year old and a 11 year old did the school shooting in Arkansas. It also surprised me. I have also read a book about "Kids Who Kill" I don't remember the exact title and it told stories about kids young as three killing. 8O
I am sure some of you remember of the six year old boy shooting his six year old class mate in Michigan in 2000.
Oh yes, kids are capable of doing crimes but they may not understand their actions when they do them at a young age. I have even read about teens doing child molestations. I read about Westley Allen Dodd and I read he molested his eight year old cousin at age fourteen. He started to sexually expose himself to little boys when he was thirteen. When I was with my ex, his 20 tear old nephew was caught molesting his six month old sister when he was fourteen. He was locked away and got help and then was released and back living with his little sister and his mother. Sadly his little sister knows what her brother did to her when she was a baby because her mother told her. I have no idea if she is effected by it or not but my ex disowned him and thought his mother should have too. So don't ever say kids can't hurt other kids and they are not capable of doing those things because it has happened. It's in books and in the media. My mom told me I tried killing my brother when I was three but I don't know of she just assumed it because how can I possibly know at age three putting a pillow over someone can suffocate them and they die? I probably did it to muffle out his crying because it was so loud. If I was trying to kill him, I prbably saw it on TV that putting something over someone's face kills them. Heck I even knew at a young age how guns worked because I saw them on TV. I even knew knives stab people and cause them to bleed because I saw it in Friday the 13th movies. I was maybe four or five then when I saw it on TV. But do toddlers know about death and know once you're dead, you're dead? No they do not. Even six year olds don't know that either so when the six year old boy shot his classmate, he probably wasn't intending to end her life forever. I am sure he feels bad about it now because he be 15 now and 15 year olds know once you're dead, you're dead. You can't come back to life so he knows he took a innocent girl's life from a family when he was little. The kid actually had problems back then and he stabbed his classmates with pencils and he picked on Kayla and one day he decided to shoot her. I don't know what he is like now.

^ Thanks for posting that. Yeah that is one of my favourites, it is sort of ethereal. I I remember we had the album pictured.. Thriller. It brings back memories.

And I am glad that finally someone has posted a positive thread on him. Its good to have somewhere to write about appreciation of his music. I was upset on Friday when it all came out on the news, and I am still sad.

I am not myself sure that he is guilty. I hope that if he isnt guilty, one day his name will be cleared.

^I actually didn't know that was a micheal jackson song, but I've heard it before ages ago. It's got heaps of little bits and melodies and stuff that sort of hit me and has a really good balance to it.

Good to know about it. I've got it stuck in my head now.

Well if MJ was a child molester his music is still good. The early stuff seems to be the best, before he went wacky. I don't really like any of the later stuff.

ludicrously?
meaning.. his music is not only not good, but utter utter garbage?
thats harsh.

"Utter utter garbage" is too harsh. What I mean is, he had a couple of half-decent songs, and the rest were completely unremarkable. I even consider Madonna a better musician than Michael Jackson. Now that he's dead people talk about him like he was Mozart.

grow up, or read about him, and youll realize how _Remarkably_ lame this statement is.
its like saying "not that elvis is dead, theres suddenly a hype around him" "now that mozart is dead, people finally pay attention to him" it just shows a GLARING lack of observation...

he has been considered a musical genious, on par with mozart, since the 70's.
and like mozart, they started out at the same age.
why iz mozart such an impossible comparison, in your book?

"Ill Be there"- with the J-5.

That back and forth interplay between the soprano lead by little micheal (sensitive, wistful) and the verile propulsive harmonies by his brothers. One of the most well constructed pieces of music ever!

Mariah Carey's cover was competent- but doesnt hold a candle!

If I had to pick just one- that would be it.

His first two solo albums-"off the Wall", and "Thriller" were awesome. Nothing after that impressed me much-frankly.
(apologize to all of you "Black and white" etc listeners.)

I love almost all of the songs listed in the poll, it is hard to choose. I also really like Man In The Mirror because it has a really good message. Rockin' Robin with the Jackson 5 is also really fun, love that one too.

Man in the Mirror - listen to the lyrics, its really great.

What really bothers me about the Michael Jackson controversy is that everyone treats him like he is definitely guilty. Is he? I don't know.. I wasn't there. If he is then that is very sad but shouldn't diminish people's opinion of his music. If he wasn't... then just think about how he must have felt about everyone's judgements of him.

Fav MJ songs...

Man In The Mirror, Laberian Girl and Heal The World come to mind.

Maybe there are more, but I'm too lazy to think about it now.
