you hold one stick like a pencil or pen, and the other one (at least I do) gets held by the 4th finger and pinky. It's great for 'chunky' food, but it's a @#$% when you're trying to gobble up the remaining grains of rice...;)

This knowledge proves invaluable when caught in situaitons where you have coffee stirrers and pot noodles/ramen but no forks.

Indeed it does...

I can, but not well. I usually wind up making a mess and taking a while to eat, and I'm sure I look ridiculous, but I'm working on it.

Enough for me to eat, but Chinese people tell me that I don't do it properly.

I can't use chopsticks. I think I'd end up starving if I had to use them... I just don't have the co-ordination to master them... gimme a good old knife and fork any day ;)

I couldn't use them properly before, but I've been practising for the last 2 months to eat boiled fish/ chicken and rice, so as not to look too silly when I go to Japan next year. I'm still unsure whether I hold them correctly though...I know I don't hold a pencil the same as most ppl.

I can use chopsticks with rice and small pieces of food. If the chunks of food are large and/or heavy, it's much more awkward and frustrating to eat. You cannot bite pieces off without dropping it. Mmm lemon chicken Image *drools*

Oh yeah, I forgot, when I'm at an Asian restaurant, I usually use my chopsticks to eat everything...even the pudding, ice cream, Jell-o, cake, cookies, whatever @_@ I don't know, it probably offends people who work there, but I think it's hilarious =D

Hold the bowl/dish up to your mouth and use the chopsticks to push the rice into your mouth.

My favorite thing about chopsticks is that they don't make that nasty scraping-on-dishes sound that forks do :x

I can make a decent go of using them. Just don't ask me to do so for longer than five minutes at a time before I have to readjust my grip :P

Yep. Chopstick master. I can even use them with my non-dominant hand, which I often do while eating at my desk at work so I can click my mouse as I read while I eat. I really like chopsticks and think Asian food just taste better with them. Although fortune cookies usually upset me...

Eating sushi with anything else would be uncivilized.

even so--many of my cousins (asian side of family) can't use them worth a @#$%. not sure why that is. (if it's relevant at all---lot of aspie/NLD, other spectrum traits among us.)

I have mastered the art but I still think forks and spoons make more sense. :D
