What is it with Aspies and cats?

I have nothing against cats. They are clean, intelligent animals. They also shed constantly and in my opinion exhibit very few traits indicative of a true companion animal. I am much more partial to dogs, especially smaller breeds. My pug is just about the best companion I could ask for. She is just as clean as a cat, she sheds a lot less, and she has a golden personality. There are exceptions with both species I'm sure, but I've had a dog since I was five years old, so good luck winning me over! I doubt very seriously that there is any connection between AS and love of cats, but maybe there is a connection between AS and the love of animals in general... hmm. Seriously though, there's no use speculating.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Cat Lady from "The Simpsons" is clinically insane and not an Aspie.
There's something eerie about cats... they have that look as if they're saying "I know what you're up to. Don't play dumb with me, I know what you're doing"
Gotta love them wee critters though.

I was tricked by a cat once... But never again. I smartened up afterwards. You, however, seem to have had the wool pulled over your eyes by cats for quite an extended period of time, with no escape in sight. *Pats your head* There, there... Maybe one day you'll figure it out, and hopefully stop letting your cat's condescending tendencies rub off on you.
"Instinct" is just a cop-out term used to avoid accountability. You are responsible for your own actions regardless of what part of your brain produced them. It's still a part of what you are. A cat doing cruel things because of 'cat instinct' does not make it any less cruel; in fact, it's a point to show why the species as a whole is cruel by nature. Besides, there is no way for the cat *not* to know what it is doing. It's pretty obvious by watching them that they know they're slowly killing something, and regardless of whether they get express pleasure out of the notion of inflicting pain, ignorance is not an excuse, and at best downgrades outright malice to 'mere' inconsideration and selfishness. Their actions are still morally wrong regardless.
the only difference is dogs are too strong for most of their "natural" prey, and will
shake to death animals very quickly. all dog-play is training for killing prey.
Uh-huh. You can't say this for certain any more than you can say that cats don't find amusement in playing with their food. I've seen both dogs and cats 'play' with other small creatures, and there is a very clear and obvious distinction in how they behave. Dogs tend to be innocent, and as you yourself said, strong, so they often hurt things by accident that they clearly *are* only trying to play with, and are even unaware at times that they've hurt them. Cats, however, are very, very aware of what they are doing.
oportunity than a RARE time they actually catch something?
its just humans who SEE the pain in this situation, and who medidate on it
Once again, even if it's true that cats simply want to 'train' at every opportunity, it's still evidence for the viewpoint that they are self-centered and conceited by nature. I once knew a cat that would spend all its time bouncing back and forth between all the houses in the neighborhood trying to get food and attention only to cast you to the dogs, so to speak, when it was done. I once had this cat cuddle up to me for a while for attention, and I scratched and pet it for a good five minutes. You want to know what it did as soon as it got tired of me? It bit me, then hissed and ran off. Just like that.
I have never, ever met a cat that I got along with. Most of them are all hisses and claws and teeth, act like aloof, vain, conceited valley girls, and every time I've ever let my guard down around one I've gotten chunks taken out of my fingers.
Dogs are much more innocent, loyal, and contrary to what you say about only humans seeing pain, very attuned to the feelings of other animals and, moreso, will actually do something about it too. Anything but mindless slaves, since you have to actually earn their respect rather than the (oft mistaken for respect) psychopathic recognition from a cat that you are an asset to it, but I guess I should expect to hear cat-person propaganda like that. I'm not prejudiced; I like almost all animals, but cats did a great deal to earn my disrespect, and I feel absolutely no remorse about barking at and kicking them when I see them swatting a mouse around or doing some other villainous deed. It's smart and wily enough to be treated as an equal adversary and held to some moral standards, which is actually more than I can say for a lot of humans.

your going out of your way to anthropomorphize cats.
instinct is
NOT
a "cop out"
cats are CLUELESS to what theyre doing as a "cruel" thing.
ive been bitten twice by dogs, never by cats. so, in my book dogs would be "evil" but i know better
they are NOT
"accountable for their actions" cus theyre innocent animals.
the cat hissed at you after cuddling, cus hissing means "enough". YOUR feelings getting offended, doesnt change the basic nature of the cat. it has a limited choise of vocalization, thats "meow" and "hiss" for the most part, whats it gonna tell you? its just telling you "enough cuddle". if someone cuddled you too much, you'd tell them too. my mothers dog gets up and walks away when i cuddle her. WHAT AN UNGRATEFUL BASTARD!! ! >:' (
cats are innocent animals too, even if your _opinion_ is different.
ill give you this tho: your the only one - in my entire life - who tried to convince me that animals instincts are in fact free (and evil) will and that theyre accountable for their actions, and that cats are inherently cruel and sadistic beings :I

Wow. That's certainly an... interesting.... mental image.
*Face-palms*
Still... was that necessary? People will have different opinions about things.... nothing to wish lion butt-rape upon....
*Hopeless giggle fit now*
Oh, and the use of "ret*d" as an insult... that -is- rather uncalled for.

i can make "cats-are-taking-over-the-world" jokes as much as anyone. still, i think the notion that they're often "self-absorbed, manipulative and cruel" is a human projection. they may seem aloof to those who don't know them well--but really, in many ways, my cats are even more affectionate than my dog.
i have two litter mates (now adults.) they definitely look out for one another--and for the "large, strange, relatively hairless cat" in their midst. they fret about one another and engage in comforting behaviors when needed. (grooming, play, etc.) they feed you--or at least try. they greet me when i come home, and love to rub faces.
i love the way they purr--i think it's one of the most comforting sounds around. i also love how soft they are and how gentle they are about asking for attention--for the most part, anyway! i love, love, love my dog--but the cats do say hello without knocking me off the chair.

I've seen cats eat poop, and I've known dogs that haven't and won't do any of the above.
There are animals that will eat their feces, because they don't get the nutrition the first time around. Some humans eat poop.

I'm not a cat person. I'm not a dog person.
I'm a cat-dog-and-others person.

Anyone else think Sphynx cats are adorable?
I think they look squishy~.
