I had read "snicks and snails and puppy dog's tails" somewhere.. which made no sense to me

Um... well... (this is embarrassing )... I believe the street definition of this refers to ... uh... the "oral satisfaction of another" so to speak. In the "as-in-not-related-to-giving-them-food" sort of way.
