In my home country, the traditional Christmas dish which is always on the table then is carp. On this day, at my home we also eat pierogi and drink compote.

Breaded jalapeno chillies and chicken goujons with tomato sauce and chilli sauce, later followed by chicken thighs cooked in chilli/garlic/salt.

We ate christmas lunch with ( some members of ) my 10 year old son's papa's family, and it lasted from 12.30 to 4.30pm.

Started with foie gras, and a sweet wine, ( had honey in it ), which was delicious. Then four or five large "noix st jaques", ( which are big round tender white shellfish ), with a dollop of creamed spinach and egg and cheese. Then turkey, green beans, and fresh roasted chestnuts. After that a gloriously smelly and gooey/creamy and tasty cheese, called époisse, with dressed green salad, and a red wine. I passed on the traditional "buche", ( cream filled, white and dark chocolate covered, swiss roll style thing ), but ate some clementines/tangerines.

In the evening we met some other members of my son's papa's family, but at a restaurant this time, and, because it was so soon after lunch ;) I just had one dish; a mound of of herby creamy ( warm ) fish "terrine/paté", with sweet potato, chestnut and mashed potato puree, and celery.

I spent Christmas Day with my dad, sister and boyfriend and we had roast duck with fresh boiled beetroots, cabbage and carrots and baked potatoes. For dessert we had chocolate melt in the middle puddings and cream. It was lovely. Today, my boyfriend and I are having our own Christmas meal of roast turkey, potatoes roasted in duck fat from yesterday's duck, sprouts, green beans, swede and carrot with stuffing and bread sauce. I am just waiting for the veg to cook and in about 10 minutes will get on with the stuffing and bread sauce. For dessert, I have a feeling it will be my sister's home-made rocky road chocolate, yum!! !

Food was definitely not a big highlight this year =P

My aunt decided to cook christmas dinner this year, she's kind of well known for not being a good cook. Well, not really a bad cook, but her culinary repertoire is not that deep =P. Our menu was Pasta, meatballs, green beans, garlic bread and mashed potatoes (no gravy =P).
It wasnt bad, just dull and not the best combination =P
Christmas eve, when we do most of our stuff, my sister was helping and burned seriously everything =P.
