yep! living in south park must be super trippy when everything is so flat..(i guess, haven't actually watched it.)

the emoticons on this very site sort of push it in terms of realism too. not that i'm complaining or anything.

I never figured out what it & many of those other emotions mean.

Totally in the dark as to the subject matter.

If you typed xD (lowercase X, capital D) then I would read that as a wink, and a smile (turned on its side).

If you typed with both caps:XD then I would assume that it was an acronym for some high tech newfangled thing that I dont know squat about, and just move on ( extra diminsion? extra digital? whatever).

I use it a lot. And I kinda can't understand why people ask me what it means. Its basically the same as but more like , not . A laugh where you laugh so hard your eyes laugh too. You know it is possible to "laugh" but actually be bored or indifferent? A sharp observer can recognize it by "not laughing eyes". Thats why xD means "honest laugh" as opposite to : D which means just "laugh" without telling if it is honest or just polite laugh.

The same with : ) and ^^. Someone might smile just to be polite or smile out of happiness. In 2nd case eyes "smile" too.
