It's based on sterotypes, just like Uncyclopedia and similar sites. If you know it's only stereotype, you can laugh at it. If you take it seriously... hmmm, it's bad idea.

See f.e. this: http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Americans

You know it's not true, right? It's not made for offence. If you take offence, you show you're really like described people. It's only Hyperbole: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbole and parody.

I am, in fact, a jerk who thinks he is better than NTs, so I guess I can't complain about the parody.

The article itself isn't offensive it's just stupid. It's when I read the forum there about and saw that people there really feel this way about pretty much everyone who has issues due to their AS that I got annoyed

ED makes me laugh. I just stay away from the articles I know will upset me and enjoy everything else. My favorite articles are the ones about people with highly eccentric behavior. There are a lot of articles that are just about people causing drama around the internet, but when I find one that details the life of a true nutcase, it really makes my day. I think I like stuff like that because I can look at it and go, "at least I'm not as crazy as that person".

Depression isn't real. They just want attention.

You see how dumb that makes me sound? People saying 'the world is flat' would be viewed as an idiot, because it is not. The same with people saying aspergers isn't real.

ED is more loose.

Yeah, ED seems to be like a more irreverent version. Maybe it's the increase in phallic imagery that makes me dislike it...

I've read the Encyclopedia Dramatica article on Asperger's, and quite honestly, I found myself laughing at a lot of it. What stands out in my memory as particularly hilarious is when it states something along the lines of, "the horrible implications of Asperger's include not being able to make small talk, not giving a s**t, etc." Yes, a lot of ED's content is completely moronic, but just like moronic people it ranges from being stupid and funny to just plain stupid. Plus, while Wikipedia deleted my false etymology for the word "BS," within seconds of me adding it, I believe it is still on Encyclopedia Dramatica (actually, I think it's Uncyclopedia, but they're basically the same thing).

Edit: I see that I have been censored. We all know what "sh" proceeded by two asterisks signifies, so exactly what the hell is the point?

Double edit: I see that while "s**t" was censored, "BS" was not similarly identified as an obscenity and therefore was not asterisked, which I find to be f*****g hilarious.

Exactly! Censorship confuses me. I have a theory that the word itself is offensive, but not the context of which the sentence is implying.
