Wel, I tend to sometimes shy away from many of the serious-theme topics though, at one time in my life here on the internet I was known for writing quite a great deal of deep & profounds speeches, ideas, expressions, etc.
One would ask, what caused the abrupt change from such? Truthfully, I suffered a certain amount of cognitive damage from have been in a coma a decade ago..It's been some time since that event and I've pressed onwards with my life but, nowadays, aware of my grammar & language abilities being cut in half I am.. 2nd, a deep thought of mine is often I feel less knowledgeable than others i n various subject areas so, I'd not want myself to be heckled for such.
Lastly, I simplyg try to focus on things that I feel deep inside I shant make too many mistakes with...

I refrain from posting if I think it's going to be against the rules or be seen as a personal attack or if I think what I was saying be irrelevant to the topic.

Threadkilling is an art that I have perfected over these few short years.

I don't think of it as thread-killing anymore, more along the lines of thread-winning, I believe that my contribution to the thread was so well received by the other members of the community that no other discussion on the topic was necessary.

I refrain from posting if I know my post will be against the rules:
E.g. "That's the stupidest thing I've heard, you utter moron."
"You deserve to have your testicles put in a blender and then die in a fire."

I believe that that type of vitriol would be classified as personal attacks.

Being the last person to post in a thread before it disappears down the forum into history.
The person making that last post is termed a "thread killer", though it may not necessarily mean their post has deterred other posters from posting.

Here or in other forums I try not to think about it so usually I don't. There's another forum which doesn't directly ban trolls and members that annoyes too many other members, it 'silences' them, that is, logged in they can read and post like normally, but their postings are filtered out for all other members. When nobody replies to my answers to threads there I often can't help wondering if I stepped on somebody's toes and have been silenced.

I've had similar thoughts about a forum software that "sandboxed" users so the annoying ones would be isolated from the other users, but they would continue to believe that they could do whatever they wanted.

And no, i do not care about thread killing. I just CreateThreadEx() 8)

On that forum it's called 'muffling' ... and it's something that should only ever be used to remove obvious advertisers or obvious trolls, not to silence people whose viewpoint you don't like or who might have a bad day and trouble expressing themselves.

I try not to think about it this way, because I'm positive I'm wrong at least half the time.

Out of posting something stupid and thereby killing the thread, yes. I can accept the "young, dumb" label minus the third part (I might be, but I'm not actively selling myself to the ladies :) ), so I just try to keep my mouth shut unless my thoughts are organized.
