I gain a place where I can vent how I really feel in a way that I can't in real life. Yes, I get some negative feedback from it but that's how would be in most places. I learn how others struggle/cope with the life of an Aspie. The good outweighs the bad I think. *shrug*

For me, it's mostly having a place where I can relate. I gain a lot from reading the forums and knowing that I'm not alone.

I enjoy sharing my experiences with others, giving advice and feeling like I belong. This is the only place on the Internet I've gone where I've achieved some degree of popularity, and I really enjoy it. I've made a lot of friends here, and I talk to them on Facebook. I keep posting here so I can continue to make new friends.

I dunno, oftentimes I just reach the point where they're spouting insane troll logic and I think "wait a moment, why on Earth am I engaging with this clown?" and get bored. I'm sceptical about the value of fighting them online - there's no chance of them changing their mind, and if any reasonable-minded onlookers will already have concluded that they're an eejit, just leave 'em to it. ^^

WP; mostly it's still just nice, after all this time, to find so many like-minded, or at least apt to be like-minded, people. I don't think many people here share my worldview, but you're more likely to grok me. And it's good to see the ways in which other people handle AS things, and I can be much more open about myself here than elsewhere - and also, forum posts suit me well; I have difficulty putting spoken sentences together (oh, but I can sing them.) Conversation is not my strength.

And I get a lot of things to read and watch and listen to from the Arts subforum, I value that a lot. And mild titillation from the Adult section.

i've learned a lot about other aspies here. prior to coming to WP, i hadn't met any other aspies IRL (though i have since joined a support group).

not sure yet if i'll stay. i have mixed feelings about it as i spend too much time here, and i am not sure if i am suited to being on a forum.

i don't really have any forum experience and something odd i've noticed is how it does not compare to a real life social situation. it's like we all came to a party without knowing the other guests in advance, and without really knowing why anybody else is here or what we are going to talk about. there's no start or end time, and people come and go as they please.

we're a crowd of random people in a giant room, circulating and making tenuous connections. some people stay and create longer conversations, but it seems like the majority of people make isolated comments on threads and wander away without ever hearing the responses. or maybe they are checking on the answers but not coming back to continue the conversation. the nature of forum conversation is difficult for me to adjust to.

i guess i don't really 'get it'.

Made a few friends, had a few laughs, learned a little bit.

My spelling and grammar has improved.

Actually relating to people's experiences...

and I like to type to increase my writing/communicating skill.

Plus, it's fun posting on message boards.
