Do you have to have silence when reading?

That sounds very interesting. I have the capacity to become completely absorbed in books to this degree, not seeing pages or words, but I don't visualize (or imagine the sounds, smells, etc, of) much of anything. Even when there are descriptions of what characters look like, I don't usually "see" them. The worlds of books, to me, are pure concepts with little sensory input. I don't find it unsatisfying, but your way sounds like it would be nice to try.

depends on my state of mind.
if im worn down and tired even the slightest distraction, besides meditative, music is really disturbing.
but if i look forward to something and read to pass the time, usually in public transport, it works as a tool for ignoring my surroundings, here i hear all of kinds of music.
